FU - We had to put him down

After my whining earlier we had to put him down tonight. We got home from work and when I went to change his dressings, I could see his insides. His tumor opened. You can't unsee that.

I immediately started crying and DH took him to the vet while I stayed home with L. We didn't want her to be there. I feel terrible for DH that he had to be there alone. Shady was my first furry pet. I am so beyond sad right now.

When my family dog died, we did a little collage of pictures of him and hung it in the hallway of my parents house. The boys never met him, but they have seen the pictures, they know his name and that he got sick and isn't around anymore. I know L is still little but I just thought I would share

I'm really sorry

We had to put one of our cats down because she had leukemia and it was really hard to get over. Our oldest son (who was 2 when we put her down) still mentions her sometimes and I can see my husband tear up when he does. They are part of the family and it's really tough to let go.
