Trouble TTC

Cost of injectables

Looks like IUI # 6 didn't work. BFN today on the HPT. I'm considering doing a cycle with injectables as a final attempt before IVF later this summer/fall. However, I'm 100% OOP on the cost of drugs. Has anyone done a cycle with injectables? Roughly what did the medications cost?

Official diagnosis: Unexplained IF. I am 32. I have low ovarian reserve (low AMH), and poor egg quality. I've also been diagnosed with mild glandular developmental arrest (lining problems, detected with EFT).

We are using open ID donor sperm. IUIs #1-7=BFN. IVF September 2014 antagonist protocol, 8R,5M,3F, 5 day transfer of 1 morula = BFN. IVF#2 planned for January 2015 (antagonist protocol + HGH).

    I'm sorry for the BFN.

I was on Gonal F and I got mine from Freedom pharmacy and it cost about $1 per IU. I've found that follistim is cheaper at Alexandars twin at around the same price. I also used ganarelix in my normal cycles which I found cheaper at Alexandra's Twin at about $100 an injection. I used about 2 per cycle. Then also you will prob need a trigger at around $80 and maybe progesterone supplement, I used Endometrin that was approx $100 a box. Because I required so much Gonal 200-275 iu a day my medicated cycles cost me around $3000-3500 a month for medication.

    Good luck!!

ETA: I'm OOP too so I did a lot of shopping around. There are some programs you can apply for, compassionate care and another that are in the newbie blog. It's worth a try to get discounts.
    Fucking bump!!!!

  • Freedom Pharmacy is great. Bravelle is somewhat cheaper than Follistim at $54 per 75 IU dose.

  • I've used Follistim the last 2 cycles and I get mine from MDRx.  It costs ~$265 for a 300 IU cartridge.  I needed 100 IU a night over the course of my stimming, and I do 150 IU the night before trigger.  Keep in mind, the cartridges tend to be over-filled, so even if you've used 300 IU, keep on using the medicine until your pen won't click anymore.  Don't waste a drop of it!  It's pure gold ;)
  • I paid $262 per 300iu vial of Follistim through Walgreens Specialty and $75 per vial of menopur.  This blog post shows what I paid for everything. https://anivfblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/ivf-cost.html

  • Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to skip the injectables for IUI #7 and save my money for IVF. I ovulate 1-2 naturally anyway.

Stupid question, can anyone tell me how to change my signature? I managed to make a signature recently but now it needs to be updated to reflect that I'm on IUI#7 (or waiting for it to start, to be more precise).
