What would you get the second time around that you didn't have for LO? Making my registry for #2.

So, I am trying to put together a small registry for #2. I won't be having a shower, unless it is a small one thrown by my church (they throw one for everyone be it the 1st or 5th baby). So, this is more for the completion coupon or for immediate family if they ask. So far, I have: Rock and Play (didn't have one for LO, but saw you guys all rave about it and now I want one) Double stroller Pacifiers Bottles Baby book Shopping cart cover I always seem to think of little things when I am out and about, but when I sit down to make a list I can't remember any of it. We don't need a whole lot. I tried to get gender neutral colors for the big stuff like car seats, swing, pack and play, etc. the first time around. Is there anything you would get for your next LO that you didn't have for the first one? Any great toys or fun things even? We have a lot of family, and they will want to get us something because that's just the way they are. Everyone tries to keep it pretty even with what we get all of the new babies in the family. I would rather have a list they can look at online than have them get us a bunch of stuff we already have or don't need. And if they don't ask, I will keep it private and just use the completion coupon for what we want to buy ourselves. Maybe some of your responses will help me remember the things I am forgetting. Pregnancy brain is getting the best of me today. Thanks!

  • Like you said, the Rock and Play was a lifesaver!  We didn't buy one so my sister let me borrow hers.  I used it until Morgan was able to push herself to the top.  It was really nice and if I have another baby I will buy my own.

Did you have a cover for the infant carrier?  I actually splurged and got a JJ Cole one, it worked so much better than the cheaper one I bought, and didn't rub against Morgan's chin when zipped.  I don't remember when you are due but that was a lifesaver for us, I would assume that you had one but one should never assume :)

  • We didn't have a bouncy seat the first time, so I'm considering one this time.

I started putting together a list on Amazon. We have that, a second camera for our baby monitor, a second seat for our stroller, consumable stuff to stock up (size 1 diapers, diaper pail refills, etc), a few toys and book since some of DD's are getting pretty beat up, and a new changing pad cover (current one won't match her room).

I'm still trying to decide how much to double up on some stuff... Like, do we get a second diaper pail, etc.

  • I wish I would've put more pumping stuff for breastfeeding (freezer bags, spare pump parts, etc) on the registry, but it's hard to do when you aren't 100% sure it'll work out.

I could've used about 15 more burp cloths...

Love the aden and anais swaddle blankets

And the Lamaze baby toys (i.e., freddie the firefly, captain kalamari, etc)

  • I'm not really registering, but I want a ring sling and a k'tan. We just have an ergo and that didn't really work for the newborn stage.

  • I wish we would've registered for another baby carrier such as the ergo for when dd got bigger. I loved having the rock n play, boppy, ring sling and blooming bath. I really liked the snuza especially when we moved dd to her own room and I was paranoid that I couldn't watch her breathe. I could've lived without all the bottles we got because dd never drank from them.

  • A bouncer. It would have been nice to have somewhere to put LO down that was more portable than his bulky basket!

A pack and play for sleeping. I have a big one for playing but it has built in rattles and such that make noise every time LO moves, so it didn't work well for sleeping. It would have been nice to have a PNP for when we traveled so that we didn't have to scramble to figure out sleeping arrangements.

The book "The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems." I've used it again and again to help with LO's sleep. I'm kind of tired of getting it from the library. (I do think it's advice on nursing is horrible, but it's been a real lifesaver for sleep!)

We do not have a cover for the infant carrier, but that is a good one. I didn't get one last time because we live in NC and I didn't think it would get cold enough to need it. It did this winter though! I could also use a ring sling or something I can use with a newborn. The diaper pail inserts and that kind of stuff are good too. Thanks for the suggestions! You guys made me think of a few things I had forgotten.

Just curious, which double stroller? If I could go back, I'd probably spend the $$ on a nice new stroller and matching infant seat, so we could reuse for this one. We got a hand me down peg perego that was on its last legs and very frustrating to snap car seat into. Definitely going b agile this time.

I haven't decided on a stroller yet. I need to get my butt to Buy Buy Baby or wherever and just test a few out. We have a peg perego infant seat, so it needs to be able to snap into whatever we get. I started a thread about it awhile back, and got some good suggestions so I will have to go back to that and see what they were.

I just thought of one we are going to need before the next LO. Another video monitor! I love having one, but ours sucks. I ended up having to get a back-up audio one when DD was like 6 months old because the video one kept losing the camera signal and will just stop working (did it again last night is what reminded me). I want one with at least two cameras so I can have one in each LOs room.

FWIW, we have this one. We're buying a second camera for it since we already have the base set, but I did see some on Amazon that packaged it with two. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004VL2VRY/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1403564417&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40

  • @SingleMom31‌ we have the same one except I think maybe it has a larger screen. My concern with getting a second camera vs getting another camera and monitor is that you will only hear audio from one room. Is that something you are not worried about or are you also getting an audio only monitor to put in the other room? I just can't imagine not being able to hear both rooms at the same time. I'm okay with being able to toggle through the two video images but the audio part has me unsure.

  • @JessAnnJ - Hmm, I hadn't thought about that part. I guess though that I'm not tooooo worried though since we can hear DD1 when she wakes up (she's not so quiet about it) and it's mostly so that we can watch her. Also, her room shares a wall with our room.

  • I have the Motorola with the 3.5" screen and have two cameras. It can scan between the cameras like every 7 seconds video and audio. Going on 18+ months of use and absolutely love it. One camera above DSs crib, the second in the play room. Will be getting a third camera (can have up to 4 synced) above DDs crib in the next few weeks.

@lizshort96‌ - I think that the one that we have. So it scans the audio too? You have actually used it that way? I thought only the primary camera had audio. That's great if it does.

How did you hang it above the crib? We bough a video camera a few months ago but I hate the placement if it. DH just propped it on a shelf caddy corner to her crib so I can't see In the crib...I can just see throigh the slats

  • Ours is on the wall too here is a cute view from yesterday of DD cuddling her doggy. There should be a hole on the bottom which allows you to hang it just like you would a picture.image

  • @JessAnnJ Yes it will scan each camera (displaying the video AND audio from that specific camera) that it is synced with (up to 4) for about 7seconds before moving on to the next camera. I believe I have the MBP36 model which has the cameras that zoom, pan, and tilt (some Motorola models do not have those features).

  • @perfectlove09- our cameras have a hole underneath the base, like a picture hanging hole for a nail.  I've read some people use the 3M Command hooks, but as mine are hung *right above* the cribs I didn't want to chance it with a piece of double-sided tape holding a $100 camera right above my LOs noggins so I used picture nails with small nail heads for the camera and did use the small, clear 3M command hooks to guide and retain the camera cord into the corner to the plug outlet.  The walls in the kids rooms are white so it's not very obvious.

  • Ok....that's what we need to try. It's usually so dark in there I can just make her out but I'd rather it be looking at her than the crib. If she sits up I can see her head lol

  • We got one of those ledge type shelves and mounted it on the wall at the foot of her crib. The camera sits on there.

  • Not sure if you will EBF, but I am coveting a Baby Brezza for when we transition DD2 to formula.  It makes the bottle for you.  Love!
