Hello ladies... Quick question for ya. I'm doing a favor for a family friend, she needs a sitter all next week on short notice. Long story short she asked me how much I charge and I told her for 32 hours (Mon-Thurs 8:30-4:30) I'd charge $300 which equals out to a little over $9 an hour. Is this reasonable? I usually charge $12 an hour but I figured since it's so many hours Id charge less. Idk what the protocol is though when you're basically watching the kid full time if I should charge even less? I don't have kids so I'm kinda clueless here. Thanks!
Re: Babysitting pay rate
And $25 a day?! Wow. That only equals out to like $3 an hour. I guess daycares are cheaper cause they're watching so many kids at once?
@TyrannosaurusLex where are you from? That's the estimate I've always heard from moms I know because they always equate it to a second mortgage which around here is about $1500-2000 a month.
Just let her know you're willing to negotiate or talk it out, you both should be comfortable with the agreement.
@cedenton you would never find an in home sitter for that price in my area. 50 hour work week for $4 an hour just isn't happening. Daycares can charge that because they have so many kids at one time.
@nauticallife816 ah thanks! On mobile I didn't see the rest of it.
