Trouble TTC

Intro

Happy Monday afternoon ladies.
I recognize some of you from TTGP, but I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and say "hi" to those of you I haven't "met". I am 27 and have been TTC for just under a year. A week into my 11th month I called to make an initial appointment with an RE thinking it would take a while to get in. They got me in right away so I am starting the process just a hair early. I had my initial consultation last week, I was so anxious I was shaking. I totally broke down that night crying, it is really sad to get to this point.

Here is where I am at with the diagnosis/testing process so far: My appendix ruptured when I was a teenager and it was not removed until 4 days later (ouch!). My RE suspects that I have internal scarring that might be blocking my tubes and I am scheduled for an HSG on the 2nd. H will be doing a SA and I will get my bloodwork next cycle, I am out of town CD 3-5 this cycle so I will miss my window.

I am beyond nervous for the HSG and wanted to start being more involved in this community as I start the testing phase. I am so sorry we all have to be here. I look forward to meeting you all even though I wish it was under different circumstances.

Re: Intro

  • Welcome. I recently had an HSG. While I have heard some bad stories it went pretty fast for me. I would recommend taking a pain reliever about an hour before and bringing your own pad. Good luck and I hope your stay is short.

Thank you! That is good to hear that it wasn't too bad. I see your results in your siggy, I'm glad you got good results on your HSG and Hysteroscopy.
  • Sorry you find yourself over here. :( At least, I hear we are a much friendlier place than some others! :)

I hope your HSG goes well and you have good results!

  • Hey, thanks for the intro. Also, based on your profile info, you're a regular contributor to discussions on TB and simply transitioning over to 3T. I think I can speak for the Board in saying, we appreciate you not jumping out of the woodwork.. also that we hate that you have to join us.

Can you maybe give us a bit more info? You said you've been trying just under a year. Have you been tracking your BBT? If so, have you had a consistent pattern for ovulation? I'm jealous that you are working with an RE (but so happy for you!) .. my suggestion would be to update your siggy to include info that us fellow 3T'ers could use in responding to you. Welcome to the Board, and good luck!
Thank you for the advice :) I added something to my sig, am I headed in the right direction? And I'll update with test results as they come in.

I have been temping/charting. I have a clear temp shift, there was one funky cycle but normally I am pretty consistent. I brought my charts to the RE, at this point she is thinking I am ovulating based on that. Oh and I was SO happy that we didn't need a referral for an RE with our insurance. I just moved to a new state and didn't want to find a new OB and RE right away.

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

    All Welcome

  • Looks like you're ovulating, to me. Lucky duck. Interested to see your TX once you update your siggy with it for the transition over here to 3T.

Had YH had an SA? Good luck with your HSG. Keep us posted!

I definitely am thankful for my "normal" cycles, but it sucks to have a beautiful chart and then a BFN. I get my hopes up so high.

A SA has been ordered for H, he will probably get it this cycle. I am happy our facility allows him to collect at home since we live close enough to drop off within an hour. I know he would have had a hard time being in a room in a Dr's office trying to do his thing!
  • Welcome and sorry you have found yourself in this position. I hope all your testing goes well, especially your HSG. I was one of the unfortunate ladies who had a very painful experience but if I had to do it again I would for the relief of knowing what's going on inside of my body. Good luck!

Welcome!  So sorry you are here, but I hope your stay is short and sweet!

As for the HSG, I am the poster child of bad HSG's.  It was horrible for me.  I felt like total crap for two days afterward.  However, I have had 2 IUI's and they were easy-peasy for me.  Other than a small bit of cramping during the procedure, I felt great afterward.  Best of Luck to you!
I am so sorry to hear your both had a rough go of it with your HSG. I agree though Mel that I am just eager to know what is going on. Even if it is not great news I want to know.
  • My RE said that something like 1% of the population has trouble with HSGs due to cervical stenosis (narrow cervix), which makes the procedure difficult and painful. Unfortunately I was in that 1%. He was not able to check tubes, but he did establish my uterus looks good. That's something! And it was painful, but bearable even without pain meds. IUI was a breeze.

From what I hear, neither procedure is a huge problem for most people.
