Leftover follistim...any good?

I committed a mortal sin it looks like, and wasted follistim! I didn't realize you can't use it after 28 days...so each cycle I have opened a new 900iu cartridge and left a good amount over in the old one. So dumb! Now that I am doing an all-Follstim cycle, I might need some extra to get me through the end of stims. Sooo what do we think about using the leftovers? The most recent one will probably be under the 28 days, but the leftover from cycle one will not be within the time frame at all. It was not refrigerated either, just kept in my night table drawer in the dark, temp probably ok. Would anyone risk it? L-)

Oh, man, what a bummer to just now realize that! I'd definitely chuck the 28+ day old meds - sorry I would say the meds less than 28 days old would be okay but if they weren't refrigerated, I don't know. I'll let others weigh in there.

In case you have to do this again (FX that you don't, of course) keep your meds in the fridge at all times. Keep using the cartridge until the pen won't turn anymore, because pharmacies usually overfill the cartridges. You can stick it in the back somewhere or behind your condiments (that's where I kept mine lol) but with this stuff costing $1 per measly IU, you want to make sure to preserve it as much as possible!

How long ago was it opened? I did use Gonal once that was slightly over the 28 days but I kept it in my fridge. This past IVF cycle that was about 1 month out of the 28 days and I wouldn't risk it. I also think keeping them cold makes them last longer.

My husband who's a Dr. and I talked about expired meds and the safety of them. He says most of them are prob ok to use expired but hormones tend to bread down quicker and it would prob just not be as potent. So when it comes to FSH we stick to the guidelines. Which sucks because that's stuff so expensive.

Thanks for the straight up ladies, my labs and u/s today seem to indicate I'm moving along pretty well so I think I am going to use up all my new cartridge first, see how much I can get out of that, then finish off with the larry from last cycle. I figure the new stuff will get me to the point I need to be [-O<
