Getting back to sleep after MOTN feeding

DD normally wakes between 1 and 4 AM for a bottle (EP, 10 weeks). Recently, she has been refusing to go back to sleep. I work 8-5 and DH is a farmer. I sat up with her last night from 1:30 until after 4:00. I gave her the usual 4 ounce bottle, burped her, changed her diaper, and wrapped her back up. No dice. Tried feeding more, she would spit it up. Tried burping more, nothing. Changed diaper again. Took her to our room thinking maybe she was too warm, nothing. I don't talk (just "shh" sounds if she gets worked up) or make eye contact, and the only light is a night light. I'm running out of ideas and working on payroll with 3 hours of sleep is not a good idea. Anyone have any other ideas?

  • What about not changing the diaper unless you absolutely have to? Are you swaddling? Can you keep LO in the swaddle while feeding?

  • I don't do anything for MOTN feedings except feed. No I swaddling no diaper change. That helps us.

This is us! I slather on the butt paste before bedtime to help protect because I don't change unless it's absolutely necessary! Too much stimulation and she's wide awake! Our room is completely dark and I use my phone for light but only for short periods! I also let LO co sleep after MOTN feeds (or the whole night- it just depends!) cause she just falls right back to sleep or sometimes doesn't even really wake up!
Never thought I would be a co sleeper but it helps us get the maximum sleep and I think that's better than staying up half the night!

Eta- I also have a white noise app on my iPad that plays all night long on a thunderstorm. It helps us all sleep!

  • Yep I leave DS swaddled while I feed him and only change his diaper if he pooped, surprisingly he usually doesn't. Burp him while still swaddled and back to sleep he goes. I have the white noise app on my phone that plays all night also which I think helps immensely

  • I normally don't change her, but tried it to see if it helped. I have to at least re-swaddle her because she breaks out, but won't go to sleep without it. We want to try to break her of swaddling this coming weekend so we don't have to worry about that anymore.
  • I also don't change unless necessary and I do not unswaddle either. If she's adamant about not turning in again, I'll co-sleep, removing all pillows and blankets and keeping her clear of DH.

  • We bed share and DS never really wakes up. He just roots around a little and I nurse him. I have zero patience for the midnight parties!
