Umbrella Stroller Recommend

You were very helpful with the car seat recommend, so here's another one!

I have the Baby Jogger, which is great for going food shopping on foot and long walks, but takes up a lot of space in my trunk and is kind of heavy. So I really need a light umbrella stroller for DD who is 18 months old. What I'm looking for:

1) Under $100, if possible.
2) LIGHT, obviously.
3) A canopy.
4) Maybe a small basket underneath.
5) Good handle height--My mom has a cheap one and you have to curve your back----awful.

Thank you!

This one is great! We had a cheap regular umbrella one, and we were going to take it on vacation, but we tested it out and the handles were super short, and I kept kicking the wheels.
This one is a nice height, I'm 5'6" and H is 5'10" and we both have no problems. Plus, no wheel kicking, nice basket and canopy, and a bonus of a reclining seat. And cheap! Love the parent console too, not usually found in umbrella strollers. (Can you tell I seriously love this thing?)
The First Years Ignite also has awesome reviews, but is slightly heavier and larger, which is why I didn't get that one to travel with.

  • I had the city micro (smaller than the city mini).  I think it is the best stroller ever.  Weighs nothing, so easy to fold.  I got it in a really weird color though so that might've been why I got it so cheap.  Didn't care though cause I could never lose my people in a crowd.

  • We have the Mclaren VOLO also, except I got mine at a children's sale used for $15 and it's still in great shape.
To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
  • We have the MacLaren Triumph. It's over your price, but I've been very happy with it. It drives really smooth and the handles are nice and tall. The basket is also a good size and the sun visor is decent.

  • I know you are looking to stay under $100, but I highly recommend the McClaren Triumph - you won't regret spending a little more.  There is such a big range in quality in umbrella strollers and I have a number of friends who regret not spending a little more to have one that is a smoother ride, sturdier and has higher handles.
  • Ok ladies...you've convinced me I'm being too cheap..going to look for the Triumph or Volo.  Maybe on Craigslist, if not I have a gift cert to BRU.  Thank you!!!
  • @mcschutte and @missyc979 just found the Triumph next town over for $75.  Good deal, right?! Says 'like new" and I'm going to see it on Saturday.
  • That sounds like a good deal to me. I think we paid around $140 for ours a couple years ago. Like I said, I've been really happy with it.

  • @bearsbearsbears I might go for the Combi...woman on craigslist was selling a recalled stroller!

I have one similar to this, might be a different model, but the crossbars on the back side make it awful to get a large bag in or out of the basket. Other than that, I really like the stroller.
I have this same issue -- the basket is not very useful IME. But I don't use a stroller very often, it folds easy and is lightweight, and it wasn't too expensive. I might look for something else though since #2 is on the way. (Visiting from D14.)
