PMS post D&C

Usually I get cramps the day before AF so I expected some cramping before my first period after my D&C about 6 1/2 weeks ago. I have bad cramping all for about 5 days. Much more painful than normal. Do you all know of anything that would cause this cramping other than AF. I guess in the back of my head, I'm concerned that there is a complication. Or is the first period after D&C usually a doozy.

    Cycles (and symptoms during any part of) can change pretty drastically after a pregnancy. If you're worried you can always call your doctor.
    Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

    I went through a very similar experience with my first AF post-D&C. I had several days of cramping and spotting and had the longest LP I've ever had. Whether that's just the "new" thing for me, that will be something to be learned as I chart since this is my second cycle post-D&C. Are you temping to confirm O?

    No. I took this month(s) off because I figured it would be really wonky. I'm kicking myself now. At least I might have known when and if I ovulated.

    I'm with everyone else if your concerned call your Dr. FWIW the first period after all 3 of my D&C's were HELL! Not only did I bleed like a stuck pig I had bad cramps.

    Other than being longer than normal, my first-period after my D&C was relatively normal, BUT it seems like that is the exception rather than the rule. They can be really wonky, and I remember that there were some ladies on the loss board who had lighter than normal periods afterwards, and others who had much heavier/longer than normal periods. 

    I definitely agree that if you're concerned to go ahead and call your doctor. That's what they're there for, and no one will judge a post-miscarriage mama for asking questions. 


    BFP #1: 4/7/14, EDD: 12/16/14 -- Missed Miscarriage - D&C  on 5/13 at 9 weeks
    BFP #2: 10/24/14, EDD: 07/04/15 -- Chemical Pregnancy confirmed 10/27
    BFP #3: 11/28/14, EDD: 08/06/15 -- Strong heartbeat at 6 weeks, Missed Miscarriage - D&C on 1/9 at 10 weeks

    Thanks ladies. You definitely eased my mind. If things get worse or if a anything else worrisome comes up, I'll call my OB.

    Is it possible you may have retained tissue? Were your betas tracked to zero?

    Me: 34; DH: 38; SD: 9
    TTC #1 since November 2013

    BFP #1: 2/4/14--EDD 10/14/14--CP 2/8/14

    BFP #2: 3/1/14--EDD 11/15/14--MMC at 12w6d (baby stopped developing at 11w4d)
    D&C 5/13/14; Retained Tissue Found: Cytotec 5/30/14; 2nd D&C 6/20/14

    BFP #3: 12/13/14--EDD 8/27/15--MMC at 7 weeks (no fetal pole and measuring 1 1/2 weeks behind)--Cytotec 1/9/15

    January 2015: Off to RE for RPL testing

    There was retained tissue but after a round of Methergine and several ultrasounds, we know it's gone.
