Pregnant after 35

Will be 39...

Hello everyone, it is good to be back...but a bit of a shock.

I just tested this week when I was late, I am NEVER late - and was shocked to get a positive result.  It is SO early, so obviously not telling anyone - so I decided to write here instead.

I will be 39 when baby arrives.  Our daughter will be 5, so I think she will be a huge help.  I always wanted kids closer together, but life happens.  And now I think it will be a blessing.

I will admit that things were just getting easier, so to go back to baby-mode is a bit scary.  I had pre-e with my daughter, so I know I will be automatically considered high risk with that and my age.

First appointment isn't until end of July, so that will be difficult.  I am still a bit shocked.  It was so difficult getting pregnant with our daughter, and this was not even planned.  But we are happy and excited!

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

  • Just something to ponder since your appt isn't until July.

I always wonder if it is a good idea  for older women to talk to doctor about getting tested for progesterone at our age. I did IVF so I was put on it immediately, but from what I understand, women have a higher miscarriage at a later age due to decreased progesterone and supplements help prevent that. It might be worth talking to your doctor to see if that is accurate.

I know someone who got pregnant 2x at an older age, miscarried both times, and then was put on progesterone and had no issues then. I feel like I have heard many similar stories, as well
