Trouble TTC

Day 1. First medicated cycle and kinda confused

We woke up to AF today. Very excited because testing is over and we can finally do iui #1. I currently have an iui and the RE put me on a antibiotic called macrobin(spell check!) and I was told to call them when it's day 1 and I've left 2 messages and still haven't been called back. Isn't an u/s and b/we suppose to be done today??? I'm confused and annoyed he office isn't returning my call. Also I am hoping that this antibiotic doesn't interfere with this medicated cycle. Advice on what I should do? Thanks ladies.

Re: Day 1. First medicated cycle and kinda confused

  • AF came for me today as well so we will be cycle buddies! My baseline u/s is done on CD3 and I think that's pretty standard. Hopefully they call you back soon and give you some answers.

As others have said, they probably want you in for CD3 testing. At my RE office they are super busy with BW/US appts in the morning, so most nurses schedule their callbacks in the afternoon. If I dont hear back by 3pm (1 hour before they close) I usually call back. And I usually hear that she was JUST about to call me! :)
  • Thanks ladies. They just called me. I'm going in tomorrow for u/s and to pick up the rx for clomid. I'm kinda bummed because I thought the RE wanted to do injectables with this cycle and the nurse said no. I thought the iui success rate was higher with the injectables. Idk. I just hope it works. :/

  • I was told CD2 was preferable but I ended up only being free on CD3, and they said it was fine.

Had the RE led you to believe you could start with injectibles? Only asking because they are mad expensive compared to oral meds.

Agree with @BunnyBerry here. Most REs will start you with Clomid for IUI unless you have already been proven a poor responder, as it is much more economical. I wouldn't worry unless you have had previous poor experience with Clomid, or your RE said one thing to you, and then prescribed another. Then I would want to talk to them about it.

He had just mentioned it in passing like going down a list of possibilities. I was under the impression it would be cycle one. But DH said the RE said well do 3-4 iui's before looking in to other options. He said if #1 is unsuccessful well try the injections. I tend to go a wall in these meetings. Partially because I'm not happy to be there and all the info makes my head spin!

eta: I do remember him telling me that most women with PCOS respond well to clomid alone so that gives me some hope? Maybe? Idk.

Going to yoga tonight. I need some relaxation.

  • Injects don't increase your chances by much. It is literally a few percentage points. They can help produce more follies and ideally those of greater quality. There is always a chance you might over respond on them.
