I know I'm blowing up the board with questions but this is actually related to pregnancy. We're going to Bermuda in July and I'll be 7-8 weeks along if things are going well. The doctors have offered to do my first u/s at 6.5 weeks (right before we go) if my first beta comes back good (tomorrow) but I'm going to put off the u/s until after the vacation in case of bad news. Now here's where my crazy comes in: I want to ask to be put on progesterone until after vacation because my fear is that I'll miscarry on vacation. During my last pregnancy I was on progesterone and I didn't start spotting until the day I stopped taking it. The RE doesn't think I need it but I want it for peace of mind and/or to prevent miscarrying on vacation. Is that crazy? I can take it if it is; I'm hoping to ask the nurse when I talk to her tomorrow.

UPDATE: I talked to my doctor and for now I'm not going to go on the progesterone, although he did tell me he is always willing to listen to any crazy request I have. He also thinks we should do the u/s before we go because if it isn't good then I can get drunk (which I do agree with too). He said if we get to the ultrasound at 6w5d and we talk about it more and I still want it then then we can do it but he is also concerned about the risks of progesterone & flying (i.e. blood clots) since progesterone (apparently) isn't risk free. I'm ok with this. I trust my doctor and am thankful for his laid back approach to all of this. It definitely calms my crazy. Thanks everyone!!

Progesterone is one of those "can't hurt" kind of things...my RE would sometimes put people on it "just in case." So I don't think it's crazy at all. You deserve to enjoy your vacation!

I agree with PP. If it will put your mind at ease I would ask for it. I am on it more so because it "can't hurt, might help" reasons as my progesterone levels came back relatively normal (20).

I agree you deserve to enjoy yourself and if the progesterone is the trick then go for it! Certainly can't hurt to ask!

I asked to be put on progesterone even though they didn't think I needed it. It can't hurt. Go for it.

Another vote for, yes ask for the progesterone. I was also on it as a can't hurt/might help measure - and if I'm really being honest the re agreed to prescribe it for my peace of mind. With PgAL brain, I'll take any peace of mind I can get. So, if you think that the progesterone will help you feel better, ask for it and be persistent.

I agree with everyone about the progesterone and we have made the same decision surrounding vacation. We decided to put out Tuesday U/S off until the following Wednesday when we return from our trip JUST IN CASE we get bad news. For now, we are pregnant and we are thankful. Have a great trip!!

I would do it for peace of mind, but realize that you can't quit until 12-13 weeks once you start taking it.

I would do it, if for some reason the doctor wouldnt give it (I'd look for a new one) - but I would use OTC topical cream if I felt strongly.... I know, sometimes I am just a rebel. But good luck, and I agree that putting off the u/s is a good idea- because you'll see more when you get back, and if you didnt see enough, it would worry you all vacay- even if it was fine! ;-)

I'm with everyone else and say yes! And it's ok to demand to stay on it until you're out of the first trimester, that's what I did. Even though the RE and OB didn't think it had anything to do with my losses, my levels were so low I wanted to be safe. It can't hurt.

FX for great numbers!!!!!

I agree with waiting to do do the u/s but have you had your progesterone levels checked to see if a supplement is even needed? I'm no doc but I know hormone balance plays a huge role is a successful pregnancy so could adding too much adversely affect anything is what I would be questioning.

I don't think you're crazy for asking. It's generally one of those "can't hurt, might help " things for peace of mind.

So glad you and your doctor came to a plan you are comfortable with, and it sounds like he takes your concerns seriously. I had no idea about the risks of progesterone and flying, I will have to bring this up with my OB at my appointment next week. Thanks!
