Hello, I have a couple of questions. My husband and I were talking about the babies nursery today and he said that if possible he would like to use his grandmothers dresser. It meant a lot to him and I said that we could. However, it is older and the color is a hardrock maple. I have looked and looked and there is no babycrib that I have found that is hardrock maple. I will continue to look for some but will it look odd to have a dresser one color and the babycrib another color? I think it would, but I am just asking for ideas or opinions. Thank you!!!

I think mixed wood can look really cool, there are lots of examples on Pinterest. Or you could do a white crib, that would look nice. Would your H be ok with painting the dresser? A cool bright color would look great! We painted a vintage dresser for DDs nursery. We painted it white to match her crib, but when we put her in her big girl bed we are going to re-paint it a fun color as we have a dark wood day bed she will be sleeping in.

I agree with the white crib. I have one and a colored dresser and it looks great, in my opinion. Another idea would be to leave the dresser the same color but add a white design to make it match the crib a little better.

I am of the mindset that says things need to be safe & functional rather than worrying about matching. If the dresser is in good condition, no worries if does or doesn't match. Plus you could put a piece of fabric on the dresser top that coordinates with the crib (or other furnature).

We have a black dresser, off white changing table & maple colored crib & works. Not once has my daughter complained, no one has ever said anything negative either. Granted, not many people go into her room. We have green walls in her room so I think that draws the eye more than the furnature anyway.

I personally don't like mismatched colors for the furniture especially if the room is not big. Will your DH be open to paint the dresser to breathe some new life into it and match the color to the other furniture?

We were gifted a chestnut colored crib but had such a hard time finding the same chestnut color in a dresser & day bed to go in that room. I looked around on pinterest and found that white looks really good with our crib color as long as there is something else in the room (such as a frame) that tied in the crib color. Check pinterest
