Hi ladies!
Karl Garrett was born 6/21/14, 1 week overdue, 8lbs 12oz. 20 inches long.
I'm mobile so forgive me.
8pm: I went into the hospital Friday night and filled out all the medical forms and got settled into my room. They did a cervix check and I was only 1 cm dilated and very thick.
10pm: started the cervadil and immediately started to feel contractions.
12:45am: 3-4 cm dilated. I asked for the epidural bc I was getting to that point where I knew it would take awhile for the anesthesiologist to show up.
1:15am: finally got the epidural and started to feel better. Also had the Catheter put in and man I had to pee!
2:15am: 5cm dilated. I started to feel worse but only on my right side. This happened with my first child too. I didn't have the epidural for my second. So I called the nurse back in and she got the anesthetist back in. She re-did the epidural but nothing improved. I was a blabbering mess.
2:45am: 7cm. I got a spinal and that knocked out all feeling...and I was happy again. But they told me it would only last about 2 hrs. They also gave me oxygen at this point. I also had to take some Benadryl bc I was super itchy from the spinal.
3:30am: I started to feel pressure like I had to take a crap (lovely). I knew my nurse would be back from get lunch soon to check on me so I decided to wait for her bc she was freaking awesome and hilarious.
3:40am: my nurse came in to check on me and I was complete! So she went to get the doctor.
4:00 am: They broke my water... Apparently there was a lot of water and meconium mixed in. At this point all I could feel was non stop pressure in my butt and we were waiting for the overseeing Dr to come in. I was really nauseated and had to throw up.
4:30am: I started to push! Only I didn't really know when I was contracting so I took my time. Baby was out so fast... I believe it was 3 good pushes. I felt his head pop out and then his whole body wiggling inside me, which felt weird, I pushed the rest if him out.
I was so scared to tear being that I've always torn. 2nd and 3rd degree. The staff helped me through all of this. I did not tear at all! and this was by far my largest child.
4:32am: Karl Garrett was born weighing 8#12oz. 20 in long. Light brown hair and light eyes-I assume they'll be hazel like his older brother's.
From induction to delivery it was 6 1/2 hours long! DH was so amazing and even gave Karl his first bath.
Thank you for reading my story, I look forward to reading yours
