Headed to the beach...tips?

We are taking our 4mo to the beach next week...any tips or advice?  We have a sun tent, a good hat and a long sleeved rash guard for sun protection (our pedi also said it was okay to use baby friendly sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide sparingly). We are also not planning on spending the peak sun hours at the beach.  How does beach-side napping work?  Our LO usually naps swaddled in pitch dark, with white noise, so I don't know how it will work seaside (except for the lulling ocean white noise)  I'd love any other tips for making this as enjoyable for all of us as possible.

  • Sounds like you've got everything. When we've gone on beach vacations with babies we've just not tried to get them to nap. They either get tired enough to fall asleep while playing in the tent, or end up sleeping later on a car ride or something.

  • Not much to add. It sounds like you have everything covered. Great job in your preparations. We go down to the beach with the kids & they love it. I'm not as well prepared as you, but I need to be. I definitely bring plenty of wipes because it gets messy. Sand gets everywhere. Kids either love the sand or hate it the first time. It's fascinating between their fingers and toes. They might even stick the sand in their mouth so watch out. Have lots of fun and take pics!
