Success after IF

Success stories please!!!

Hello Everyone!
Just as a quick intro, I am 29 and DH 34. We have been TTC for 2 years and had 1 MC. This is my 3rd cycle with Clomid and first that we also use the trigger shot. This week, we are going in for IUI. I am sooo nervous because I dont know what to expect!

Here is my questions;
After how many IUI were you able to conceive? Did you have Multiples? ( deep in my heart, I not only want it to work, but also wish I could have multiples...lol)
Please, drop a line with your success story!

Thank you

I had success with clomid/IUI for my first.  It was our third round of clomid, though only the second with IUI and trigger shot.  We had one healthy boy.

We had our next 2 kids unassisted - DD#1 was a total shocker when DS was 7 months old and I hadn't ever even gotten an AF post partum  DD#2 took almost a year of trying, including one m/c in there.

Good luck - I can understand the secret wish to have twins going through IF treatment (one pregnancy 2+ kids, don't have to do the treatments again), but do agree with the others.  Multiples can be very risky for both mom and babies (losses, extremely premature deliveries, increased risk of pre-eclampsia and need for bed rest, etc), so one baby at a time is a great goal!

  • I'm following along right with you  :)
We've been TTC 2 years+2mo and we just finished our first Clomid/Trigger/IUI cycle.
I'm hoping to read more success stories that came from IUIs as I'm almost certain that we won't go on to IVF.

FYI: I have long cycles and DH has morphology issues.  I'm taking this cycle off due to too rough a time with the Clomid (migraines/hot flashes/emotional in a way I didn't know was possible).

    Good luck! :)
(P.S. I understand what you mean about wishing for multiples.  The thought HAS crossed my mind, though for everyone's health I really wish for only one.  At this point I'll take ANYthing as long as it is the product of DH & me).

  • After both of my IUI's 2 years apart - I did stims, trigger and IUI - both ended in a healthy pregnancy. No twins here even though they run on both sides of our family. Good luck!

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

    10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

  • I conceived ds after #2 iui with 50mg clomid with mfi. For my current pg I did 4 clomid cycles (3 with iui), 6 menopur/trigger cycles (3 made it to iui), 2 Femara iui cycles which the 2nd ended in a twin pregnancy.

This twin pg has been a lot harder so far and I'm only 17wks. I was much more secure in my singleton pg. this time I feel like I'm just waiting for something to go wrong.
    Diagnosed MFI- low sperm count

Thank you so much for all the posts! Today I will find out if I will be abl to do the IUI this month. We have been watching since Monday... I am praying and praying and praying. Of course I want to have a healthy preg. and healthy baby. Whatever God sends me, I will take it happily!! You are all right I should wish for multiples, but is is a deep in my heart wish that I cant control :(  I love babies and I want it so much! I was a nanny for well over 10 years. 10 years of raising other people`s babies and when they didnt need me anymore, it was just "bye bye and good luck in your life"... I miss being around kids...
  • I tried IUIs for over a year and a half, had to wait until I was ovulating on the non-blocked side.  Didn't work.  Had surgery to open the blocked tube, still no success.  Had surgery to remove tube, waited another year, still no success.  Got pregnant with twins on my 1st try with IVF after 6 years of IF.

If you accidentally get twins, be happy and healthy - but DO NOT try for them.  Again, I've sen so many ladies all around me in the IF boards lose one or more of their precious babes.  I had a non-complicated twin pregnancy, and then all of a sudden, gestational diabetes and hypertension.  Babies came 6 weeks early, and you've never experienced guilt until you've had to leave your baby in a NICU because you chose to (in my case) transfer 2 embryos instead of one.  Thankfully, at 12 weeks now they have no health problems that we know of.

Also, sorry to complain, because I am SO thankful for my sweet ones - but caring for twin babies is about 5 times as hard as caring for a singleton.  I have a wonderful, nearly perfect marriage (yes, I'm one of those women) and it is even **very** trying on us sometimes.  Try finding a babysitter for a date night for twins! Ha!  If you can have them one at a time, that is definitely the way to go.  I know you don't believe me, because I secretly hoped for twins as well, but if I knew then what I know now, I'd take them one at a time.  Still the same precious babes, but ONE AT A TIME.  So keep that in mind when you're doing your IUIs - if the chances of multiples are very high on that cycle, then just wait for another one.  Seriously.  :)  GL

  • Well... but I am talking about IUI not IVF. I am not going for IVF YET. And when I talked about multiples it was only because my doctor talked to us about it and what could happen as she wanted us to be prepared for all situations. I am not provoking a multiple pregnancy, lets be clear here. I would just welcome it happily, that is all.

Also, when I posted here, I was looking for positive stories. Please, refrain from negative comments. I know you are all trying to help and warn me. I am aware of the danger, but I a a strong believer of keeping the positive energy and positive thoughts around. No, I dont want to hear about the bad things. I want to see positive stories please!

Oh, and about babysitters, My DH and I have all figured out already! We will have an Au Pair who will leave with us! I am an Local Childcare Coordinator and love love love the program. I cant wait to have my own Au Pair too! With my our schedule, Au Pair will work 5 hours per day and we will have planty hours left for date nights and it will be extremely affordable. :)

  • Just wanted to stop in and say good luck! I personally did not have success with any of our 8IUIs BUT...... On some of my other boards there were many people that did! Did not see any who ended with twins. One thing i wish someone would have told me is to only give IUIs a few tries. We spent thousands and 3+ years on them befor getting out first BFP with our IVF.

Again good luck, keep hope, IUIs do work for many people.

  • We had success with our 2nd IUI. That cycle was really rough for us. At first, they didn't think I was responding to the letrozole, then there were issues with the shipping for my trigger shot, and the timing was right around Christmas (the ONE day a year my RE's office is closed). It was super stressful and emotional, but here we are with a little boy on the way! Good luck with your cycle!!

IUI didn't work for us, our first FET worked. If you can afford it, I suggest going straight to IVF - higher success rate
    Me: 32, DH: 34.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.
    FET, 2 frosties (June 13, 2014)

    14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).
