Iphone 5S vs. Iphone 5c

So I had my Galaxy 4, and unfortunately it got wet and the rice trick didn't work. I have had cell phones since college and never broke any of them. I am devastated. I reactivated my old iPhone 4 (not even 4s)---it still only has 3G! And I hate it---mostly because it is SOOO slow.

Unfortunately there are features of the iPhone that I like and some I don't--and same with the Galaxy.

Does anyone have these phones? How dramatically different is the 5S from the 5c? I would like to have 32gig--and that is a $100 dollar difference between the two.

I was actually looking at phones today and the guy said he sells many more 5c than 5s. For the average user, the upgrades to 5s just aren't worth the price jump...especially when iPhone6 is supposed to come out in October.

Right now, Target has the 5c on sale for $30 with a 2-year contact for either Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint...the 5s is $199. Plus, if you have a RedCard, you'll get a discount and they'll price match if you find it cheaper.

  • I got my 5S when it came out.  (My 4S got bricked by my daughter spilling bubble solution on it a month before.  I just went without a phone for a month.  It was... interesting.)  To me, it was well worth it.  The 5C is, iirc, almost a repackage of the 4S, in brighter, plastic cases.  The fingerprint control is a plus for me (and is actually more convenient, imho), the improved camera was a big deal for me, and the lighter weight was also nice.  The speed is nice too, and I do notice it being faster than my 4S was, and I feel like it was well worth the money to get the "better" model for me and my use.

However, if it's four months until the iPhone 6 is released, and you are seriously thinking of getting it, I would get a piece of crap free phone for those four months and wait for the phone you want instead.
