Cradle cap + coconut oil

My DD has had cradle cap for about 6wks now. I've been using a medicated shampoo during this whole time but it's not going away.

I've read about using coconut oil to help get rid of it, my concern is DD has a ton if hair!! Will it be all greasy??

Yes it will be greasy but it's worth it!! Try putting it on after a night bath (we just use Burt's bees wash on his hair and started bathing daily) and if it's greasy in the morning still, sprinkle in a bit of baby powder!

We tried this. We massaged it in and then gave him a bath to wash it out. The next day he had crazy cradle cap (so, so much dead skin coming off). But then we brushed it really well and did it again that night, and the next day it was all gone and hasn't come back.

So, I'd recommend it

I just lightly scraped it off DD's scalp with my nails when dd was a baby. It never came back.

I should mention that I totally scraped at the dry skin too. But I'm a scab picker lol.

Do you have one of those soft baby brushes? After the bath I used one gently going backwards with it towards the back of his heads and then cleaned off all the dead skin. Put lotion on and it hasn't been back since

I just use a hard comb. Her cradle cap was hard to get rid of since she has so much hair. On her forhead and eyebrows I used a toothbrush.

I always rubbed it on and then used a comb to scrape the cradle cap off Han washed hair. Sometimes I had to wash hair twice.

Ok, all done! DD did not like when I massaged the oil through her hair, I let it sit for about 15min. In the tub I washed the oil out with her j&j shsmpoo... Combed while wet & got some flakes out. It's dried now & just a little greasy, not too bad. Crossing fingers this helps!!

DS has bad cradle cap right now, so I may do this. Where do I find coconut oil?

@Ambarnett1‌, your local grocery store should carry it. I use the Whole Foods or Trader Joes brands, but I believe the larger stores carry it too now. Coconut oil is so good for cooking and a host of natural remedies! It's great for diaper rash as well and eczema.

I tried this and it didn't seem to work for DD. She still has the darn cradle cap. Glad it worked for so many other people though!

I actually found coconut oil at Walmart. Organic & all that good stuff (& about $7 for a jar). I made a coconut oil face scrub for myself too :-) 1/2 cup of the oil & 1/4 c of sugar. Been using it all week & my skin is getting really soft
