Freezing Milk Causes Gas?

A question I didn't get to ask back when I was pumping at work and storing breast milk for my LO.

Has anyone else experienced their child being much gassier (and uncomfortable) after drinking previously frozen breast milk? This didn't happen if my son nursed, or the milk was refrigerated, only if the milk was frozen for a few days. I suppose it could have all been a coincidence of what I ate on the days I had to freeze milk, but I doubt it from the number of times this happened.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something about the freezing or thawing that creates a chemical reaction that leads to my LO's discomfort?

    I heard this anecdotally so I hope I'm not spreading misinformation but...I heard that shaking the breastmilk (which you're not supposed to do) can cause more gas. Is anyone that's feeding your baby trying to shake it before or after it's been thawed? I think people sometimes do this to get the thick fatty layer mixed back in. I've never noticed baby having more gas from frozen milk.

    I've never noticed an increase in gasiness from frozen milk, but DD probably only had 75-100 oz of frozen milk over the whole past year, I didn't have a large freezer stash to begin with and really only pumped enough to just keep up with her intake. I did always try to squeeze all of the air out of the bags and freeze flat, but I can't imagine it would make much of a difference once you thaw it and pour it into a bottle. Maybe it was something in that milk that you'd eaten, there are some foods that can make baby a little gassier. Best of luck to you and LO!
