2nd Trimester

Diclegis in 2nd tri

My midwife prescribed Diclegis for me today because I still have nausea (actually, I have more nausea now than I did in the 1st tri).  I am pretty sure my nausea is from reflux, because Pepcid helps a little, for a short time.  I'm not vomiting, but I have a hard time eating anything that's not bread/bagel/crackers.  Anyway, I know it's category A and safe and all that, but I would love to hear others' experiences with Diclegis.  Did it help?  Are you still taking it?

Re: Diclegis in 2nd tri

  • I took Diclegis until about 22 weeks when my nausea and vomiting (daily) stopped. I started around week 10. The game plan I had with my doc was to stop for a day or two every two weeks. The first few times I tried to stop I was really sick (sicker than I was on it, which I still was). At around 22 weeks I started getting concerned about the long term use. I stopped using it. I was really sick for about 4 days then nothing. I think part of my nausea was from flying. My nausea has since subsided, I have only had one vomiting episode in the last 2 weeks.
From what my doctor told me the medicine is safe. A lot safer than the meds they prescribed me early on (zofran) which I only took once. This is a class A drug so it's the safest you can get if you need to take meds.

Thanks everyone! Turns outy insurance doesn't cover it and it is $200 for a 30 day supply. Maybe I will look into b6 and unison. Zantac seems to work the same as Pepcid for me, which is only for a short time.

  • @mb314‌ ask your Dr. If they have a sample. The sample has a coupon so it's only $30. Or you can just go to https://www.diclegis.com and they have the coupon online. I used the coupon and it worked great,
  • I don't have experience with this, but I took phenegran most of my last pregnancy. This time around I have to take Zantac 150 twice a day to keep heartburn suppressed. If I miss one pill then I throw up.
