Hi ladies, my sweet girl was born yesterday 6/21 at 6:48am. Her name is Amelia, she was 6lb11oz and 19.5". She arrived 3 days before her EDD.
Friday I had a regular day, no indications of what was coming later. I went for a growth ultrasound in the morning, ran some errands and stayed home most of the afternoon. At around 9pm I laid on bed, an hour later I was reading a book when I felt a contraction, it wasn't that bad but I knew it felt different than the BH I had before. DH came home right before 11 and I told him there was a chance baby was coming this weekend, by then I was contracting every 20 minutes.
I tried to get some sleep but it was impossible, contractions were getting stronger, my mom started timing them and at around 2am they were coming every 7 minutes. I called my doctor and he told me to wait until they were 5 minutes apart and then call him back. Around 2:30 I woke up DH, we changed clothes and at that point pain was becoming unbearable so he just told me we'll head to the hospital and let them call the doctor. We only live 15 minutes away but it felt like it took forever to get there
We arrived shortly after 3am, I filed up the paperwork and was sent in to check for dilation, I was at 4cm so I was admitted. They put me in a room and at that point I was screaming from the pain so they asked me if I wanted to get an epidural, I agreed and the anesthesiologist came in to my room around 4:30am but she wasn't happy with my BP, it had dropped and she said she wanted to wait 10 minutes and have it checked again. Once we did that she still didn't like it and asked for an authorization from my OB before she would do anything, while we waited for his answer she started prepping me. Once he got his ok she wanted to check my BP one last time, it was still low so she refused to do it. At that moment I wanted to slap her but right now I am so thankful she took that decision and potentially avoided an emergency c section or any harm to my baby or me.
After that the nurse offered me IV painkillers, I gladly accepted. She said she will have the resident OB check me before she did that and when they did I was already at 8cm! They said it was too late for any pain meds and basically I had to stay med free. I was just screaming but there was nothing they could do, just told me to keep breathing and that my doctor would be here soon.
That last hour was loooong, contractions were coming in like crazy, I was feeling the urge to push and doctor wasn't here yet. Nurse checked me again and she said I had spontaneously broke my water, that was at 6:25am, doctor arrived right after and after 3 or 4 strong pushes baby was born at 6:48am.
Best moment ever, she had a nice pink color, everybody was amazed at how fast things went and I was happy at the end I got the natural birth I wanted and a healthy baby.
I have a 1st degree torn but after all the pain I went through, the stitching felt like nothing. We are staying here until Monday if everything stays right, breast feeding was a little hard at the beginning but I'm getting there! No supplement needed so far.
Thank you for all the support in this beautiful ride, I learnt so much from all of you in this few months that I feel like I had the best company a FTM could ask for. I'm looking forward until all our babies arrive and will always keep our June 14 angels in my heart.
