NBR: San Diego hotels

Hey ladies,

From what I can tell, there are a fair number of you from the west coast. Plus others who have traveled there.

Looking for hotels in SD for a vacation that DH and I are planning with B.

We are hotel snobs. B is too, she just doesn't know it yet :). We'd love to stay on Coronado, but not necessary. Has to be family friendly, with nice grounds and updated rooms. Beach access is a major plus!

We've had friends suggest Lowes Cornado, Paradiae Point Resort and Spa, Humphreys Half Moon Suites.

If anyone has any input into these or other places we'd love to check them out!

Thanks!
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.

I personally wouldn't recommend something on Shelter Island (Humpreys) since it's fairly isolated. Lowes Coronado is also on the less populated area of the island, and if you want to walk places I'd stay near Coronado Beach, or the harbor side. You might check out vrbo.com or similar sites, but the 30 day minimum is more strictly enforced on Coronado so there are fewer options.

If you want to stay downtown/Gaslamp, this is where I'd highly recommend vrbo. We've stayed here (#332928) and it was great, they even supplied a PnP.

  • I stayed at the Loew's Coronado for a conference two years ago. It was nice, but it seems isolated from the town area. The lobby is great, they had huge windows from the bar area overlooking the patio that they opened in the evening.

  • The Del is ridiculously beautiful and yes pricey.
  • Del is right up my ally! Definitely pricy though. Hard not to keep it on the list though, seeks to have misdated rooms while still maintaining that old world charm!

@mishkaroni‌ -- thinking we'd spend some time puttering around, hitting sea world and the zoo. We love exploring quaint places as well as the bustling touristy areas. It was also suggested that we visit la Hoya for the seals and the beaches.

How many days do you think is a good stay I'm SD? We are flexible and open to suggestions in activities.

Thanks again everyone for the help!
