No, he hasn't.

No, he doesn't really care.

No, he doesn't think the baby can actually hear. He'll need the doctor to confirm something "crazy" like that.

  • No, and likely won't.  It's not that he doesn't care, that sounds heartless, my husband just is not the belly rubbing, talk to the baby kind of guy.  With DS it really bothered me and I thought he wasn't excited about being a dad, but that wasn't the case, he just really falls into that category where he became a dad when the baby was born.

  • My H isn't really the belly talking type either. I think the only time he really did with my other two was when he was joking around and said stuff like, "Hey you little turd calm down in there. You are killing your Momma!"

  • My husband has read a few books to the belly. And lays his head down and rubs it.

  • Yes. Ever since we found out we were pregnant.
  • He has said a couple things here and there being silly. We were talking about when the baby could hear, so I'm sure he will chat it up more then.
  • My husband is the real feely type, and he's been talking to my belly every night since we got hospital confirmation at about 10 weeks. He's convinced that baby hears my voice, so it needs to hear his some, too. Not sure it hears either yet, but it's cute so I leave him be.

Exactly this. I don't want to click doesn't care because it's not that. It's just too cheesy for him. Hell I'm not much of an in-utero baby talker either. I never did it with DD and I will probably not do it with this DD. But once they are out I can bond better.

  • He will rub a little but not talk.

My son talks to the baby every day, though.
Last night, Jonas was laying on my stomach talking to the baby. He told him "I dont care what sex you are, I just care that you're being born. You're going to love your new family so much"

  • My husband is probably more involved in my pregnancy than I am at this point --- he's the maternal one. When we found out we were pregnant, he bought several books for expectant dads, and I bought a book on having a baby and not letting it ruin your career lol. He schedules all of my doctors appointments around his work schedule so he can attend (if only he could get the pap smear for me as well...). And so of course, he is talking to my stomach. He wants it to hear his voice as much as I hear mine. It's weird, but endearing. I'm grateful he's so into it; it balances things out since I'm more nervous about what we're getting into. But guys fall all over the spectrum with this stuff. And I've heard that a lot of them only snap into it after they see the baby in an ultrasound or after it's born.

  • The only thing my DH has said to the baby is "I'm so glad I have time before you know all the horrible things I'm saying." He rubs my belly every now and then but I think he still sees it as more me than baby. It's kinda weird to talk to someone's torso if you think about it.

My SO started talking to the baby even before the baby could hear and I kept having to remind him of that. It didn't stop him though. He kisses the belly and talks to it pretty much every day. The other day he was playing hip hop for the baby and when he played an instrumental version and I asked why he said it was so the baby could start learning some rhythm. :))

  • He really didn't with DS and I doubt he will this time which is totally fine because I probably won't, either. Baby will hear is talking, but I feel weird about talking to my torso.

  • I'm only 14 weeks, but my sister sent me a book specifically to read to the baby in utero (Oh Baby the Places You'll Go- adapted Dr. Suess) that I've started reading to the baby a couple nights a week. DH questioned if it could hear yet, and probably won't get into it when it can hear, but we'll see. I'm not convinced the whole thing is real for him yet. It probably won't be until at least the anatomy scan.

Sometimes he kisses me before work and then says: "Hello, baby!"to my belly. And then he leaves lol I like it. We've always been the mushy silly couple, though, so it fits us ;)

  • MH kisses and talks to baby when I tell him to. Lol. He is probably just humoring me, but he is a good sport about it.

  • My husband is a real softy. He's decided he's going to talk to the baby every day so the baby knows he's there! So cute.
