Sleeping to much

So Garrett sleeps a lot. Goes to bed at 730pm. Sleeps till 11am/noon. Today 2pm. He wakes up happy and smiling. Is this something that I should be concerned about? Will still take an hour nap and eat again then go down for the night.

He eats, takes his bottles. And a pretty happy baby.

Just worries me about his sleeping. (He might wake up for about 10min about 7/8am but never cries and is back to sleep within 10 min.

I would bring it up to your pedi. There are some underlying medical conditions, albeit rare, that can cause too much sleep and I'd feel better to rule those out if I were you. I'd also be worried he isn't up long enough to get enough food/formula/bm.

He is still eating a normal amount and gaining weight and hitting milestones.

  • Aren't his diapers SUPER full by the time he wakes up? My LO sleeps from 7-7 and it seems like there's 2 gallons of pee in there in the morning. I definitely find this a bit concerning.

This. My LO goes to sleep at 7:30 and wakes up anytime between 7-8. She never sleeps past 8. The only reason she sleeps past 6:45-7 is because I bring her into bed with me and let her nurse so I can catch another few minutes. When we get out of bed to change her diaper, it is super full. I would be concerned..but then again, I worry about everything.

  • Sorry ladies have been at work.

To answer some questions yes he hits mile stones and is gaining the right amount of weight and in general a happy baby. If we get him up before he wakes on his own he is still happy and smiling. He just goes down sooner and naps longer He will have a full diaper but not over full.

He will sleep in but usually up by 10 and had been that way for a while. Goes to bed no later than 8. I check in on him and he is just snoring away.

  • Like PPs said, I would definitely make it a priority to tell the pediatrician at his next appointment. Does he see the pedi soon?

He has one this Wed. He goes every 2 weeks to get his shots. We have to space them out

  • I agree with @drey1028‌, even if pedi says it's ok, it might be a good idea to start helping him develop some more typical sleep habits. If he continues sleeping that late in the coming years, he may really struggle when it comes to going to school in the morning and not having that option.

  • My LO was sleeping a lot too around 5-6 months (17-18 hrs a day) and I was getting concerned. She took three 2 hr naps a day so I just cut out her last nap and she adjusted fine. She still sleeps about 15 hrs a day but she's perfectly healthy. Both my girls love their sleep, especially naps, like their mommy. My point is adjust his schedule and see if he can adjust. He just might need something to do except sleep!

What kind if shots? Is the sleepiness a side effect ? Is he on any meds?

He gets his vaccines one at a time since his bad reaction. So we go on every 2 weeks to get them
