Let's talk about poop...

Everything I read keeps saying that I could be experiencing constipation right about now, but that is definitely not the case. I feel that I poop 3 times a day at a minimum. I don't think that would be considered constipation for anyone. Anyone else in the same boat. I have read that prenatal have a form of laxative in them, but that's not my problem since I do not take pre-natal vitamins.

  • You what? You don't take pre-natal vitamins? Why?  And prenatals don't have laxatives in them.

Some women have constipation while pregnant some don't.   If you think you are going too much you should consult your OB.

  • @persephonerose I don't take them because they make me very sick. I have a condition that doesn't allow me to absorb them anyway. This was a call made by my OB that it was better for me to not take them to take them. I take Folic Acid and B12 daily.
I wasn't concerned about pooping, it's not like I have diarrhea, just was wondering if other people were having the same symptoms. I didn't mean laxatives, but many pre-natals have a stool softening agent in them (according to my OB).

  • I think someone posted recently about going a lot so I suspect you are not alone, but three times a day does sound like a lot to me. Maybe it's your diet? Did your doctor say anything about it? I was constipated last pregnancy but have pretty much been once a day regular this pregnancy.

  • I was constipated in my first trimester. Now I'm pooping a few times a day and it's very, ahem, fluid. Not sure of why there's been a change. I'm taking the same prenatal vitamins and my diet is the same.
  • I go 2-3 times a day without laxatives and I am still constipated. Thankfully I am still regular, but I do have a hemorrhoid as a result of the constipation. My OB prescribed a hydrocortisone suppository that doesn't have a laxative. It basically lubricates the exit.

Glad you found a way to get your vitamins, but I totally side-eyed you too until I read that. Especially since we've already had one person say they don't take them for realzies.

  • I had a roller-coaster of a week on the poop front. .. first way to much, to the point where I checked in with my ob about it. Then I took an imodium, and that stuff works like whoa. So I have been all over the place.

So you poop daily multiple times and don't have diarrhea... so what's the problem here??

Consider yourself lucky. Most women do get constipated.

    Talking poop makes me laugh...

I think I go once a week. On the bright side I lose several pounds
  • After lurking on this thread, I went and read my own vitamin ingredient list. Sorbitol is definitely on there! Very interesting.

No issues with poop over here.
