Amusement Park rides

I live down the street from a big amusement park. When my MIL comes to visit next month she wants to go. I know I can't ride the roller coasters, but is there anything that is safe to ride? Or should I just hang out on a tube in the wave pool?

Any other suggestions for a safe fun summer?

Re: Amusement Park rides

  • I have been wondering the same thing. My husband is a nurse and told me that I can't ride anything with a lap bar.

  • I just went to Six Flags a couple of weeks ago. I asked my doctor and he said nothing with a lap bar. I decided it would be OK to go on the roller coasters that had the restraints that go over your shoulders. The actual rides were ok, but when the attendant  came by to make sure I was secure, they pressed down on the restraint pretty hard and it did get driven into my belly with some force. It definitely hurt a little bit and I had an uncomfortable feeling in my belly for the rest of the day. I would say just stay away from anything that could potentially be hard on your belly. Hope this was helpful!
  • I'm against them all (ferris wheel not included) my MIL told me she lost a baby at 16 weeks a few days after taking my husband and his brother and sisters (they were around 4-8) on kiddie rides for the day. No one will ever know if that's why she lost the baby, but I'm just staying off.
  • Sounds like I will hold the bags when people go on the rides and try to spend as much time in the waterpark as possible. Thanks for all the advise.

  • We have season passes to a local amusement park.  I go on the tamer rides with ds#1.  Tea cups, swings, carousel, etc.  I've even done some of the tube water slides.

He's 6 years old and can't ride most things by himself yet, so I still go with him.  I won't do the roller coasters, upside down stuff and whatnot.

  • I love amusement parks but right now I can't imagine my stomach being able to handle anything that flings me around. When I used to work at one, we would have to tell people not to bring small children/infants on the big coasters and such but none of us teens had the balls to ask someone if the were pregnant to suggest they not ride - so it's really going to be up to you to protect yourself. Personally, I wouldn't leave the water park (avoiding any slides that might flip you over) or the food court. There should be guidelines listed before each ride but generally if there's no height limit you should be fine.

  • Love this post thanks! Going to Busch gardens Tampa the week of 4th of July when visiting family and had the same question!
  • I don't even have a good amusement park anywhere close, but I've been sort of hilariously bummed about the lack of rides this summer.  Honestly the odds of me finding even one ride to go on even if I wasn't pregnant right now are slim to none - just silly how it seems like one more thing I can't do. ;)
  • The closest amusement park to me is about 4 hours away. I'm actually considering a trip...just for the food. Is that wrong?

  • I went to disney world a few times while pg with DS. I only went on ride that you could take a baby on. Basically Peter Pan, haunted mansion, pirates of Caribbean. That type only. Nothing that restrained or jolted.
  • I wouldn't.  Just about all of the one at our local park say do not ride if you are pregnant. But I am so sick right now even a hammock will make me yak...

  • No amusement parks near me, but I do live by a lake/tourist destination. Summer means jet skis and water skiing. I can't do either :(. I need to buy a big floatie so I can still get in the water. It's hot here!

  • I went to an amusement park last weekend for Father's Day. I went on a few kiddie rides with E, but that's it. I didn't do any of the kiddie rides that jerk around or go into the air. Other than that I didn't get on anything. Even the kiddie rides had the sign that pregnant women shouldn't ride, but really my car rides are more bumby and sometime jerky than the carousel or kids cars.
