Before I had a baby:
1. Pooping. Alone. In the quiet. Such bliss I didn't know I took for granted.
2. Sleep. Just, sleep.
3. The freedom to make my own schedule that is not determined by bedtimes, nap times, witching hours....
4. The energy I used to have for sexy time. #2 on my list now trumps it almost every time.
5. Peaceful car rides and long trips that didn't require an exorcist and shaman.
6. Grocery shopping being a somewhat mundane experience, and not the olympic sport it has since turned into.
7. Finishing a bottle of wine on any given night of the week, then cracking open another without a second thought.
8. The days when 7 p.m. was the start of my night, not the end of it.
9. Going out with confidence that my clothes don't have some kind of stain on it.
10. Heading to a friend's house for a cookout/BBQ and not giving a second look to how safe the surroundings are. Is there a gate around the pool? Is the backyard enclosed? What kind of gardening tools and chemicals are around? Oh, the days when it was just "Where's the booze cooler?"
But then....then there's this:
And then 1-10 are rendered obsolete again. Until the next 5:30 a.m. wake up call.
