Question for those who pump at work...

For those who pump and are back at work or who have experience with pumping at work: what undergarments do you wear daily? I bought the Medela bustier but I'm not sure if I'll wear it all day under my clothes or not. Is there anything out there that helps to streamline a pumping session as much as possible? I won't start back to work until mid August, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what you ladies were doing!

When I pumped at work with DD I just wore a nursing tank. I just held the pump horns with one arm and had one arm free. There's also instructions online for using hair ties to hold pump horns onto a nursing bra to be hands free. I didn't have my own office before to pump in though so it's not like I could work and pump anyway.

  • I took off my shirt and then just wore normal bras and had no issue just pulling down the fabric of my bra. I have never tried a hands free bra approach though, I know some gals do the medela hands free bra and like it. I was able to hold the horns my pressing them against the table in the nursing room. Hard to explain but just leaned into the table to hold both and then usually caught up on Facebook/Pinterest/texts to friends on my phone or in the beginning I had to look at pictures and videos of LO to stimulate letdown.

  • I wore nursing tanks and I bought one of those hands free bras with the cutouts in them from target. I would just unhook my tank and then put on the hands free bra/band while I pumped so I could use my hands for important things like surfing the net or reading magazines.

  • I'd wear a nursing bra and bring the hands free pumping bra in the bag with my pump/parts in it. I just lifted up my shirt in order to pump, no problems.

  • I've been using an old sports bra with slits cut into it. I'll do this when I go back to work since I can just pop off my top and put it in and eat lunch, use my phone, etc . Totally with being hands free to do the switch

  • I wear a nursing bra, tank top and a shirt. Unhook the bra, tank goes down, shirt goes up. I wear my hands free bra since I'm working while pumping.

I've always been able to hands-free pump with a regular bra, so I'd just pull it down enough to settle the flanges, and go.  I worked on counted cross-stitch while I pumped at work with DS1.  I found that it was faster to wear a knit shirt that I could pull up/down easily.  When I wore a fitted button-down or suit dress, I had to undress much more to pump and it added a lot of time to each session.

  • I wore nursing tanks under my regular clothes (but this was during the wintertime) and threw on a hands-free nursing bra for pumping sessions. At the time I had my own office, so I was free to look absolutely ridiculous because I was all by my lonesome.

  • With the sports bra do you wear it all day? Do you only wear the hands free bra during pump times?

    Me too

I only wear my hands free bra during pumping. It kind of gets gross quickly and doesn't look quite right under clothes. I usually just unhook my regular or nursing bra, push it up, and put on my hands free pumping bra which doesn't have straps and uses a zipper in front to place on securely.
