Just Me and DS Tonight- Fun Ideas?

Next weekend DS is going with his Grandparents for a week, so I want to do something fun with him tonight. It's going to be rainy, so I was thinking maybe grabbing a redbox and we'll do popcorn and juice? Any ideas for a fun, quick dinner that I can make?

Ditto this.  Something special that your DS likes.

We watch movies a lot in our house, so I would tend to try and come up with something else for a special night.  On a rainy night like that, I might see if DD wanted to paint something instead of (or while) watching a movie.  My DD loves to paint, but we don't do it all that much, so I'd maybe get her a couple of canvases to paint on.  Or shaving cream painting in the bathtub - we mix a little fingerpaint into cups of shaving cream and let her go to town all over the walls of the shower.

    Have fun!

I would take him to a playground, a sprayground, indoor playplace, or something like that.

Also, please reconsider popcorn as a snack for kiddos this age.  It can be very dangerous is and actually not recommended as a snack until kids are much older due to the inhalation risk.  Our pediatrician always reminds us to never give popcorn as a snack and even at DS1's 6 year appointment she was hesitant.

I did something similar one night with my son.  I made pasta and let him eat ON THE COUCH while we watched a movie.  It was hysterical how happy that made him.  (Put down a blanket underneath him because that stuff gets everywhere)

I'm on my own w my girls (oldest is 3 years and the other is five months) tonight. We went out to a taqueria. DD1 got strawberry soda, which she very rarely gets. We are going to a county fair tomorrow so we cuddled on the couch and watched the fair scenes in "Charlotte's Web." I feel like anything that's a break from the routine is exciting for toddlers/preschoolers. Enjoy!
