Breast feeding after breast augmentation

Ok...this is my 4th child, 1st after breast augmentation.I had a textbook breast lift and implants done in March, conceived in November. No complications, implants under the muscle. QUESTION: any advice on how to increase my chances of being able to successfully breast feed my sweet son? Does breast augmentation make it less likely to be able to breast feed??

    No it shouldn't. Especially if it's under the muscle.

    I know I don't post here regularly, but just wanted to chime in and say that I have breast implants and BFed Ds1 for 16 months no problem. Mine are silicone under the muscle. I think the issue in question is where your incision is. Mine is under my breasts in the "crease" and I had no problems, but if yours is around the areola you could have problems with let-down due to decreased nipple sensitivity. Also, when you had your lift some of your ducts could have been damaged. Hopefully all is well, but I bet you'll just have to wait and see.

    I also have had no problems breastfeeding my children.  It's usually not a problem unless the ducts were damaged in the surgery.  If that was the case, I don't think there is anything you could do to "increase your chances".  I wouldn't worry about it until you have to worry about it :)

    Thanks for the feedback...it was a lollipop incision. I'm having lots of colostrum leakage so I'm crossing fingers that's a good sign?!

    Lol. I wish I didn't worry abt it, but I seem to obsess abt it. I'll b so sad if I can't breastfeed. Anyway, I'll try not to worry, thanks for feedback.

    My friend had breast augmentation and did have issues with letdown that she felt was connected to the surgery. She wound up taking domperidone to supplement her supply and was able to bf to a year.

    It's not the implant but the lift that can cause problems bc of the incision. I had both and thankfully was able to work up to almost 75/25% bf but did need to supplement with formula the whole time.
    Alex has arrived! 9 pounds, 21 inches - 3 weeks early on March 2nd ~went natural - very intense. whew!~

    About to be a FTM so not sure how it'll go yet, but I have silicone/under the muscle/incision in the armpit and am producing tons of colostrum at 37 weeks. Will update once he is born, as I would love to EBF :)
