Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. We finally went public!

After being told last week they found two soft markers for Down syndrome on the baby we were sent to a specialist. We spent a full day at the hospital starting with an hour and a half ultrasound, meeting with a genetics councillor, and then finishing with a meeting with the OB.

They explained to me they found a different colour in the bowels on the ultrasound but it is very much explained by my bleeding. When there is blood in the amniotic fluid the baby swallows it and that is where it ends up. Causes absolutely no harm, but shows up in the ultrasound images.

I was also told that the other marker was limited nasal bone. The tech found one right away with great measurements. The specialist explained to me that my doctors office made an error and had these measurements done at 16 weeks instead of the proper timeframe 18-20 weeks. At 16 weeks it would have been hard to measure the nasal bone. They measured our risk after the testing to 1 in 100,000 for our baby having Down syndrome.

The OB put me on high risk so I will no longer see my general doctor but go right to my OB because of my subchorionic hemmorage. It measured even smaller from a couple weeks ago.

After having a great day we decided to announce. Here is DS showing his mixed emotions. He is a year and a half.
