NBR: New teacher gift?

I know we have a few teachers here. My friend just got her first teaching job (5th grade) and the school year starts at the end of July. What is something teachers need? A cute gift for her. My kids aren't in school yet and I have no clue. Any ideas? TIA!

    A bottle of her favorite liquor!!!! Maybe two.

    Or a giftcard to a restaurant she likes, since on a teacher's salary, she won't be able to afford taking herself ever again!

    Coffee giftcard. Somewhere with strong coffee because she can't (shouldn't) drink on school mornings

    Okay maybe you mean teacher gifts... I'm obsessed with pens. I like the expensive gel ones that come in 20 colors. Maybe make a little basket of small stuff. Pens, expo markers, ream of paper, book of good job type stickers, hand sanitizer. I always keep a box of popcorn in my room, either for a special treat for the kids or afternoon snack while doing some kind of paperwork (grading, lesson plans, conference forms, etc.) after school.
    Just some thoughts. Congrats to your friend! I enjoyed teaching 5th grade a lot (currently I'm in 4th) but it is a challenging age!!

    5/12/2013 SURPRISE BFP! Natural cycle 
    7/11/2013 Panorama results Normal!!! Team Pink, partial previa moved up in 2nd tri9/5/13 (19w) AS scan shows short cervix, 2.5 cm 9/19 (21w)  Cervix is worse 1.87cm, bed rest 10/26 & 10/27 steroid shots 12/19 (35w) DX: SGA Baby went from 57% percentile to 18th percentile in 6 weeks. Weekly BPP and NST until she is here. 1/17/18 Growth scan puts Abby below 10th percent in size, low amniotic fluid, and less movement. Time to induce!
    1/18/14 2:11am Abigial Morgan is here! 5lbs 14oz and 18 inches of pure cuteness!!!

    Massive bag of jolly ranchers, sounds weird but I loved that about my 5th grade teacher! She always tossed them to you for doing something hard or above and beyond. Earning that little bit of sugar was always great incentive to try. BBw had the cutest apple shaped bottles of hand sanitizer may check if they have them this year. Gift card to hobby store or walmart for extra stuff for her room,especially if it's a public school their budgets are so tight. Care package of spare supplies staples, scissors, coffee mug with lid, grading pens, etc...

    Definitely a gift card to a teaching supplies store. My first year of teaching I spent so much on supplies!!

    Agree with PP. Personally, I can't get enough Post Its! They're very helpful in my classroom. Not just the paper ones, but the plastic labels are nice too. Jolly Ranchers are a really good idea. I have Starburst and Hershey Kisses for a "Sweet Treat". Can't go wrong with a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card :)
