Progesterone users Help! UPDATE

I am wondering when your doctor took you off of progesterone. Did you have any complications after the fact, did you go on to have a successful pregnancy? Because I feel I'm not educated enough, I'm terrified that my doctor will take me off of the pills on Tuesday at my 12 week and 2 day appointment and I will lose the baby. I had two previous miscarriages so this is the longest I've carried a baby. Any help would be amazing. I just got back from my 12 week ultrasound. The baby is measuring where it should be, heartbeat is 158 and all of the organs look great. My doctor told me to stop taking the progesterone which is scary. Please send t&p's my way that the baby will continue to be ok. Thank you so much for all of your love.

I took prometrium with my DD; 100mg orally and then 200mg orally everyday until my progesterone level was >40 and I was in the second trimester. The doctor was treating luteal phase deficiency and so once my placenta "took over" then we were out of the woods as he put it. I was already feeling better and then once I was off the prometrium I felt great. My cervix was short though (separate issue) so I went on to intravaginal progesterone and a cerclage and she was born at 38w2d and is now 20 months old.

I am still on prometrium 200mg twice a day and my Dr said to stop at 12 weeks. I am planning on taking it through my 12th week. I am super nervous about stopping it as well.

I am on Crinone, but stop today since I'm at 12 weeks. I was on it for my first twin pregnancy, stopped at 12 weeks and went on to have perfectly healthy babies.

I took crinone til I reached 9 weeks but mine was just to be safe, not for low progesterone. I had no issues coming off.

My dr. prescribed it as a "better safe than sorry" measure because my progesterone was on the low end of normal. He said I will take it to 10 weeks. But now that I see so many of you ladies took it to 12 weeks, I'll probably ask about it at my next appointment.

I took 200mg vaginally until 12w5d. I was supposed to take it until 13w but I had a bad reaction to the insertion and daily rubbing of my lady parts from the pantyliners. It was a sad situation for my poor vag. Anyhow, like @larahouseman‌, I was taking them as a can't hurt/might help.

I had no adverse side effects when I stopped. I'm 15w today and saw Vigorous Baby on Monday; everything looks good. GL!

I am on progesterone suppositories and at my next appointment which will be 9w4d my OB said we would discuss starting to wean me off of them. Truthfully I can't wait. I hate them, but have done what I needed to do. I am also on them just as a precaution and not for deficiency like many other ladies here.

My RE said I could wean off of them at 9w4d. He said to taper off as sometimes stopping cold turkey spotting can occur. My ob said I could take them until (but no later than) 14wks. I think I stopped at about 13wks.

I was on progesterone until 10 weeks at which point I stopped cold turkey. I didn't have any reason to be on them, just a precautionary, so that may have been why I was told to just stop. I didn't have any spotting once I stopped.

My doctor told me to stop eating them when they were all gone. That was almost week 14. I didn't have any symptoms at all after that. I just stopped from one day to another and everything went well. Good luck

I am currently on Endometrin & have been on it twice/day since 4 days after my IUI on 5/23. As of today, I am 6 weeks along & my RE said that he will keep me on it through week 10. He assured me that doctors keep patients on it at least through 10, and at that point it is safe to come off. I obviously can't speak from experience as to taking it up to 12 weeks, but I would just talk to your RE about your concerns. I don't have issues with low Progesterone; just precautionary.

I'm on 50 mg suppositories from a compounding pharmacy. I use 1 a day. I was extremely surprised that my OB told me to continue taking them until 16 weeks:/ I do not have a documented case of low progesterone, but after 2 losses and a suspected LP defect, we decided it couldn't hurt to try. I was so ready to quit at 12 weeks. 14 weeks now so 2 more to go.....I think she will have me just stop, but I have to confirm at the next appt.

I took Endometrin through 10 weeks and stopped without weaning off. The bloating let up a bit when I stopped, thank goodness.

But anyway, I am 26 weeks now without any real problems.

This pregnancy I started progesterone suppositories (100 mg three times a day) a few days after my trigger shot and stayed on it until about 12 weeks (I think I was technically 11 weeks and 4 days because I used up the suppositories I had). My RE said I could have stopped at 9 weeks but I had suppositories left to use so I used them. I am now about 20 weeks. I had low progesterone with my losses and actually wasn't even monitored for progesterone in this pregnancy so just took it as a "just in case".

I know it's hard but try to trust that your placenta will eventually take over what it needs to do to support your baby.

I was on Endometrin 2x a day until 11.5w with DD. She arived healthy and safe 28w later.

This time I'm on Crinone 1x a day and will be on it until 11w4d (Tuesday). I know it's hard and scary, but by 12w the placenta has taken over supporting the pregnancy and progesterone is no longer needed.
