April 2014 Moms

I've wasted a lot of money...

Even with me having some basics from when DS was a baby - onesies, blankets, etc. - I feel like I wasted so much money on 0-3 month clothes, sleep sacks, etc. this baby is too tall for just about everything. I have two big diaper boxes full of clothes she has outgrown and she is only 8 weeks old. I am hoping I get more use out of the 3-6 month stuff.

I definitely got way too excited over shopping for girl clothes. And people gave us a ton of 0-3 month clothes when she was born. Too bad I am not having any more kids!

Re: I've wasted a lot of money...

  • I have been having a lot of luck lately on online yard sales & baby/kid sales groups on FB. I would suggest those too for buying and selling.

  • We hardly bought anything (maybe 4 onesies?) but were given lots and we still have too much! Sold some to a resale shop this week and bought some 6-9 mo and 12mo stuff since we have very little in those sizes.

  • Thanks everyone. I did post a few of the nicer items on a local FB board. Everything else is going to a local charity that helps teenage moms. The consignment shop near us is a PITA to deal with so I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to deal with them for this stuff. I may save that for DS's blazers that were worn once or twice and things like that. Glad this LO is growing but when I pack everything up like this I can't help but feel bad for all of the waste.

  • I've joined a few swap and shop groups on fb in my city. You can sell your stuff there!

  • I find carters fits dd best, some of the other brands just never fit right. I spent another $44 last weekend....

  • I agree that caster's fits DS the best.

I had a really bad Carter's moment on Memorial Day weekend.  I spent $100 on 3 month sizes (I rationalized it because everything was half off in the store and we didn't get any 3 month clothes from the shower).  Yep, they've lasted 3 weeks, and it's already time to bump him up to 6 month pj's and his onesies won't last too much longer after that... so sad because his little mustache pjs and raccoon pjs were so cute!  He was 13lbs 7oz on Monday and 24 inches long.  Sigh...
