Got a jury duty summons. I'm worried about the childcare situation. If I do end up getting called for jury duty, it's hard to find an all day sitter because I don't have anyone regularly do that as I stay at home with my son. He's only had a sitter (my mom) for 4-5 hours at most. The court provides a daycare, but I am not taking my son to daycare at the court when he is not used to something like that and just leaving him for the whole day. Plus, my son still BF's about 3-4x per day. But he is 20 months, so he would be okay not doing that...it will just be more emotionally stressful on him than physically. Ugh....I hope I don't get called.

Re: SAHM + Jury Duty Summons
There should be instructions on the mail you received on how to explain your situation. I had to fill out a survey when I was called in (last month) to defer it or get excused. I filled it in and sent it back and they excused me.
Call me crazy, I actually like being on the jury, I was called once a few years ago and it was fun so I would have been fine if they told me to come back next year or something but they excused me this time.

Or, fwiw, my dad deferred his jury service to a week with a major holiday betting on the fact that no court would want to schedule any cases that week, and he was right.
