Our doc gave us a multi vitamin with iron for our little one. After reading all the extra crap they put in it, I want something more natural. Any suggestions?
There is some thought that BF babies need an iron supplement, but my pediatrician never mentioned it. Of course, DD#1 was severly anemic when they tested her around a year and a half. I couldn't get her to take the iron supplement, since it tasted awful & she refuses to drink anything except milk (can't put iron in milk) or water (still tastes it). Luckily, she is finally old enough to take a multivitamin with iron.
We EBF and only give Vit D. Once they hit 6 months they start needing iron since their internal stores are usually running out by then. We didn't give iron supplements to DS1 and likely won't for DS2. We did BLW starting at 6 months old with DS1 and introduced meats and legumes early on so he was getting iron that was easier to absorb than a multi vitamin's iron.
Re: Multi Vitamin
This varies from pedi to pedi.
