Right upper abdominal pain???

Since around 13 weeks pregnant I've had this upper right abdominal pain. My OB said it was normal growing pains...however over the last 2 weeks it's getting worse and more constant, coming in waves and seems to be worse when I eat. Last night it woke me from sleep at 2 am and radiated into my shoulder blade. Got an appointment tomorrow morning. Does any of you experience this??? I'm worried it's my gallbladder!! I'm an RN so I always think the worst lol.

  • I'm about 23 weeks by the way!

  • Hmmm, it could be your gallbladder, especially since you describe it flaring up after meals. Pregnancy makes us more susceptible to gallbladder problems.

In my first pregnancy, I had some pretty serious right upper quadrant pain an ended up in the ER around 16-17 weeks for a gallbladder ultrasound. My gallbladder turned out to be OK, and the pain was caused by inflammation in my ribs from all my organs pushing up. The inflammation calmed down a few weeks after that and I had no further issues. I hope they find it's something similarly minor for you! Feel better soon.

  • Thank you ladies!! ❤️
  • I am having the same issue, I have an ultrasound on Monday to look at my gallbladder.  I know this isn't a "misery loves company" situation, but all I can say is, you're not alone!  Good luck!

  • It sounds like your gallbladder to me too.  I had mine out just before my first pregnancy and it was the best thing I ever did.  Gallbladder attacks are miserable.
