Daytime swaddle?

Do you swaddle during the day or just at night? DS is a crappy napper unless I'm holding him but does ok at night with the swaddle.
Just worried about having his arms pinned down so many hours per day...

Re: Daytime swaddle?

  • All crib sleeping is with the swaddle (which is about 75-80% of sleeping). Unswaddled sleeping only happens in the car seat or the front carrier. Kiddo was the same way... swaddled 100% until he learned to roll back to belly at 4 months, at which point the swaddle ended permanently. I am assuming we'll follow a similar pattern with Tessa too.

  • DS is always swaddled at night and swaddled for most of his naps. If he falls asleep without being swaddled, fine, but the swaddle is the go to to calm down and sleep!

  • LO hates the swaddle at night, but actually naps if she's in a light swaddle during the day. I will hold her and let her chest nap and then put her on the boppy or in the swing and pray.

If he falls asleep without it, great. If he fusses and keeps waking, I swaddle him and he sleeps better. Always swaddled at night, probably half of his day naps.

    This exactly for us.

  • First day I got my LO to nap in crib!!....and its because I half-swaddled him. I kept his arms free.but wrapped him from midchest down.
  • Arms and legs are swaddled for all night sleeping, and most daytime naps are half swaddles with arms free. We call it the "mer-man" swaddle.

  • I swaddle for all naps unless he falls asleep in his car seat. I use A&A blankets during the day and a swaddleme swaddle at night.

I swaddle immediately at night and it's not my go to during the day but I don't hesitate to do it if I need to calm him down to sleep. I would say I probably swaddle him for one nap a day, and just let him fall asleep on his own the other naps. I should mention that usually when he takes his other naps it's because he fell asleep riding in the car or the stroller.

This for us as well R loves to be swaddled.
  • I swaddle for his afternoon naps. His morning naps are almost always in the carrier while we are out so he's unswaddled for those.

This is exactly what we do!

  • We have no swaddling after 3pm until bed time, we were advised that from 3-8pm just let them fall asleep wherever they are bouncer etc. so that they sleep better at night it has worked great
