Stupid question about stained bottles

Have you ever put spaghetti or something else with tomato sauce into a plastic plasticware container and it stained it red? Yeah well when that happens I usually just pitch it because I buy the tossable plasticware.

But this time it happened to a bunch of my breastmilk bottles and nipples. :-|

I've tried soaking in vinegar, dawn, scrubbing with baking soda, nothing works. I guess I just have to pitch them and try to find some other bottles to replace? The only thing that's a pain is I use those big 5oz medela bottles for pumping and milk storage and you can only buy those if you buy the whole set of 4 with the cooler bag and ice pack and all that crap. You can't just buy the bottles.

My MIL says they're fine to use but the idea grosses me out honestly.

What would you do? Keep trying to clean them? Suck it up and replace them? Just use them?

    Try sterilizing your bottles.  We have really hard water where we are and I usually need to sterilize Abby's bottles to get rid of the stains.  It also works for time where we get a stain from dirt in the dishwater on the nipples.  Might work for you, too.

    If you can't get the stain out after you sterilize, don't worry, it's clean.

    Ok I will try sterilizing tonight and see what happens! I will look for some oxyclean too. I wish I had read this thread before I went out to CVS. :-| Oh well, another trip to the store!

    You don't have to buy the 5oz medela bottles with all that stuff! If the collars and nipples are still fine you can buy the bottles in 3 packs. But honestly, staining isn't the end of the world and doesn't affect the bottles themselves. Try a mixture of oxy clean in the sink with hot water and soak til it cools. But If that doesn't work, it's staying. See links:
