So on Wednesday last week I got a call at work at 3:45 (I'm off at 4) from Daycare saying that Jax has fallen and hit her head and her eye is swelling and she has become very lethargic. I called our family doctor who told me to rush her to the hospital because it would be a waste of time to bring her there.
I get to daycare and they are writing up an incident report indicating that she fell after standing up on her toddler cot after nap and somehow tripped/lost balance and hit her head on the hardwood floor. By the time I got there she had started vomiting and was still vomiting when I grabbed her. I put her in her seat and had to talk to her the entire 7 minute drive to the hospital as she kept nodding off.
I got to the hospital, and Jax started vomiting again. I was seen and asked to sit in "see and treat" until I was called. The triage nurse told me she had no idea how busy they were so there was no telling how long the wait would be. DH showed up about 10 minutes later, he took a cab from work, and we waited. We were scene and then x-rays were ordered. We completed those and went back to wait. She was still vomiting and very drowsy. She layed on my chest for most of the ordeal.
We were seen by the Pediatrician who told us that he assumed she was dizzy because of a virus and decided that her vomiting was due to that and admitted us. Jax was given an IV (twice because they messed up the first one) and we were brought upstairs. We happened to have her DVD player in the car still from our last trip so DH went and got that and while she settled we watched Wall-E.
We were seen again in the morning by the Dr and he insisted on a virus. All of the nurses gave us follow up information for a head injury and concussion and we FINALLY went home at 3pm. We got a call from our family doctor as soon as we got home, advising that if we have any concerns to call her right away and bring Jax in. She was glad to know that we are home and agrees that it's a head injury, not a virus.
Jax was a trooper, and her eye is slowly coming back to normal. Her bruise is moving around and it's not as swollen so she can see out of it again. She went back to daycare today, and she's never been happier. She's a crazy kid and is completely back to normal. She doesn't have any symptoms anymore and stopped vomiting around 8:30 pm...5 hours after her fall.
It was the scariest phone call I have gotten so far in her little life, and she looked terrible and so sad when I picked her up.
The little collage are all hospital pictures (the one is when we brought her home and her daddy gave her a cookie, so she was picking all of the chocolate chips out of it), the one with the soother is Thursday morning and then a super cute picture of her from the weekend before, because I love it and must share it with everyone.
Anyway...I just needed to share, and I'm so glad that she's back to normal and her eye is getting back to normal.
Thanks for reading.
