Fetal Doppler Monitor -to buy or not to buy??

Maybe it's IF brain, or PgAL brain, or FTM jitters... Or a combination of all 3. I'm thinking about getting a fetal Doppler monitor. I just would feel better being able to check on Dolce whenever I want. I have no clue what a good price point is or if they are garbage. Any thoughts?

I have one and I don't regret it. It was great to listen to her heartbeat whenever I wanted to. Just remember that you aren't always going to find it - and if you know that's going to freak you out, I wouldn't invest in one - and you really have to wait a few weeks to pick it up on the doppler. Also, if you are going to get one, get a good one. I'd recommend the sonoline b heart rate monitor. You can get a good deal on them on ebay. https://www.fetaldoppler.net/sonoline-b-pink.html

My OB said he would yell at me (mostly in a joking manner) if I got a doppler. He said if the baby sits in anything except the perfect position the doppler might not pick up the heart beat, scaring moms unnecessarily.

My biggest fear was not picking up anything.. I would go BSC.

Then don't get it. It's really hard to find the heartbeat before you get to the point where you can feel the baby anyway. Don't make yourself nuts.

Yes, get one, but don't tell your OB! Mine fussed at me too. With mine, I couldn't consistently find her until about 13-14 weeks (in the beginning, they're reeeeeally low, so I think I wasn't looking in the right place), but after that it was pretty easy and I would listen to her ALL the time (PgAL brain is the worst!). I also recommend the Sonoline.

I bought mine during my last pregnancy, and during both pregnancies I was able to find the heartbeat at <12 weeks, but I know that's highly unusual. If I couldn't find it I would freak out, especially since I had found it previously. I ended up hating it because it lulled me into a false sense of security last time, and even if I could find the HB I found myself wondering if the HR was normal, or questioning why he wasn't moving a lot, etc., etc....

I also recommend the sonoline b. I found my LO's heartbeat regularly after 12 weeks. It gave me peace of mind until I could feel her moving.

I totally recommend it. I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy and I was so paranoid literally my whole second pregnancy and the only thing that gave me peace of mind was checking LOs heartbeat everynight. Once you find it, it's easy and takes l
a minute! It's superrrr low at first, then just keep looking around later on. I didn't find my LOs heartbeat until 12-13 weeks though, so I wouldn't even try until then; no need to worry yourself for no reason.

I agree with this! I don't think I got mine til close to 12 weeks anyway, but I LOVED being able to check in on baby, it brought a lot of peace of mind before I started being able to feel baby. I got the AngelSounds one though, it's cheaper but it worked great for me!

I was gifted a crappy $15 one 8 years ago with DD. I never could figure it out.

I wanted one, but as I said my OB said don't and DH followed that dudes words like they were from the bible. ::eye roll::

I think I'll get one in a couple more weeks and proceed with caution. At roughly $50 its not terribly expensive to just use for fun. Hell DH video games are more than that.

I didn't get one because I knew it would turn me into a crazy mess if I couldn't find the heartbeat. So if you think you can handle that - then I say go for it

I got one because my first pg was a m/c and it really did give me peace of mind. As PP's said, it's really really low at first, like down by your crotch area haha.
Also, using high quality headphones helps too, once I starting using my Bose noise canceling ones it was so easy to find her hb.

I had the sonoline b Doppler and don't regret it all. I had a lot of anxiety in the beginning when you don't look or feel pregnant. It helped reassure me between appointments that LO was still in there.

+1 for a Sonoline b. I found the hb around 11 weeks helped that I had an us so I knew how low to look. I used it multiple times a week until I started feeling consistent movement around 22 weeks. It gave me a sense of ease and also helped grow a connection to the baby growing inside me. Also, youtube videos will help you know where to look and decipher sounds!

I too have Sonoline B and found both heartbeats at 10 weeks. This past week I had a lot of pain so it was nice to have to make sure there was 2 heartbeats in there. I too had major IF brain and still do. I don't think it will ever go away. Its nice to have to give you piece of mind. Don't freak if you can't find it just try again later.

Yeah the first few months the bump was full of freaked out posts because they couldn't find a heart beat with their at home Doppler. Doesn't seem worth the stress
