PSA: Postpartum Hemorrhage

At about 10 days postpartum, I started having nonstop cramping. My blood flow remained bright red, but I passed no clots. The cramps felt like moderate period cramps, but would occasionally become stronger and cause me to double over. I went to the OB on two separate occasions about this. She thought I had a UTI and prescribed antibiotics. After three days on the medication with no relief, I went back to OB and was sent to the hospital last night. I had to have a D&C because there were placenta remnants in my uterus. I am now feeling much better! I just wanted to let you ladies know that if you experience cramping or bright red flow after seven days, please advocate for yourself and see your doctor. I could tell something wasn't right, but I had to go to the doctor three times before this was addressed because I didn't have secondary signs of postpartum hemorrhage like passing large clots or a fever.

Side note psa: I passed two giant (like baby fist sized) clots and freaked the eff out. Apparently you can pass the scab from your placenta :-S always call the dr.
