Walkers

Hello my fellow bump ladies!! What are your feelings about walkers? My dh went to pick up Layla the other day from daycare and she was in a walker and loved it!! arent they being taken out of stores for being dangerous and stunting advancement in walking? I'm just not sure how big of a deal this is that they are using one.

Re: Walkers

  • I think the biggest danger is risk of falling down stairs. I've heard it can delay walking, but honestly D legs have only gotten stronger. Now she can hold my hands and take steps. As with anything else moderation is key.

  • We have had Ethan in one for months and he loves it. His legs are the strongest part of his body. He already wants to walk on his own and he was standing on us at 4 months old. Most of it is just to supervise your LO in them. DS can move it around so easy and it helps me get things done around the house because he can follow me.

We have one and she loves it. We have our gate up so there is no danger of falling down the steps.

We bought one to use outside and DS loves it. We use it a couple times a week. I think if you use common sense you'd be just fine.

  • We have a push walker, but it is currently in the play area we have in the living room on a carpet and the wheels are up against the couch so DS can't use it to push walk. We got it to encourage him to sit up and play right as he was starting to crawl. At daycare, they've had to take the push walker out of the room as DS beelines for it and he doesn't quite get the push and walk. He does more pushing and face planting. Thus, we have is secured at home until he's better with the coordination.

We also have the push walker (my kid has #allthethings) - we only let him use that when heavily supervised, and he does love it as well - probably more than the old school walker we use outside.
Who I am kidding - the kid just loves to walk in general.
