Help please.. LO is over tired and he won't just go to sleep. Any advice I will take! Especially since in 15mins my husband will be leaving to go to work and I'll be trying this on my own.
I turn a hair dryer on warm and low and lie LO on a towel on the bed and run the hair dryer over him with light music on. The warmth and white noise calms him.
I was able to calm him and he ate another ounce, making it 7oz in 2hrs. And he started to fall asleep on the bottle so I continued to rocked him. I was able to put him in his crib, hopefully this lasts longer than a 10 min nap. I think he is really hot, he is all sweaty, that the hair dresser idea may not be a good one today.
I bounce on my exercise ball. That is usually my go to when all else fails. Also she falls asleep when I talk on the phone and rock or bounce her. Not sure why oh and the 5 S's she loves the swaddle and to be turned to her side facing me not away from me and bounced over the white noise machine. I usually have to let her suck at the same time. I think that's why she likes facing me. She also likes to fight sleep so if I hold her snug that usually helps. Not sure if that's what your LO is doing.
We do a bath, diaper and dress, final meal if still hungry and then I lay DD with her head on my chest so she can hear my heartbeat- she's t within minutes and transferring her to where she sleeps is easy.
I will try a bath next time, he ended up falling asleep like 30mins after I posted this. He took another ounce of food and fell asleep on the bottle. He woke up a few times to get comfortable but nothing he couldn't put himself back to sleep with. I think we're going through a bit of a growth spurt. Is it possible to have the 3wk or 6wk one at 4 1/2wks?
@florassecret I downloaded the wonder weeks app, and it says from 4 1/2-5 1/2 weeks he is going through a leap. So I'm guessing that is what the issue is. I just have to remember to keep calm and relaxed, so hopefully he'll get my calm energy and also feel that way.
Is it possible since he is eating so much that he just wants to comfort suck? Have you tried a pacifier? My baby LOVES his pacifier. We originally planned on not giving him one because my nephew never had one and never needed it. Well that went out the window when he was 4 days old. He loves to comfort suck and it instantly calms him. I was worried I wouldn't know when he is hungry or just wanting to suck, but it's obvious because he will cry with the pacifier if he is hungry.
Cool dark room, nursing/pacifier, swaddle, loud fan on (or other white noise), gentle rocking motions. Often all at the same time in a delicate balance that changes day to day. Good luck! It's hard when they are so tired and you know a good long nap will make everything better.
My LO fights sleep I rock him and pat his back which would take forever or not work and after a few weeks have just realized he falls asleep better on his own in the rock and play sleeper
I can usually tell when he is hungry and when he just needs to suck. He will use a pacifier but he's not a huge fan of it.
Last night after my husband tried to get him to sleep I ended up taking him so MH could leave for work. I sat on my bed lights out, ac on, gave him another ounce to drink and then once done just rocked him. That seemed to do the trick. And he slept from 10:30pm-3:00am. I could tell he was hungry, hot, and tired. He was awake yesterday from 2pm until 10:30pm with only a few 10-20min naps here and there. And he usually sleeps longer than that.
I'm hoping tonight is a better night. If not I'll def be trying all these suggestions. It's bath night tonight so hopefully that helps calm him down right from the start.
Question for the warm bath supporters... LO loves her warm bath but HATES right after. I wrap her up right in a dry towel the second she is out but she just wails,... Thus the bath is no longer relaxing bc we are worked up again. Any tricks with post bath and keeping LO relaxed and warm?

Re: Help!! How to put an overtired baby to sleep?
Or do to have a carrier or wrap? Sometimes it's the closeness crave to give in to sleep.
At least i hope it was the growth spurt.

'WHAT, I have hands?! I can voluntarily move them?!! I must flail about all day.'
'I can make noises?! I must coo and shriek all day.'
'I can kick my feet?!! I must kick my blanket off. Now I'm cold. I should cry.'
'There are different colors and patterns?! I must stare at them all day. And never sleep. Oh I'm tired. I hall cry. Oh hey look, a colorful pattern.'
And cycle repeats.
My fave? OH GOD I NEED MY PACIFIER! Upon giving it to him, hand flail to the mouth and knock it out. Cry. OH GOD I NEED MY PACIFIER!
Repeat x 67.
Or cry because it's not full and coming down quickly because he's been noming all day.
My little piglet.
