Shopping for a new daycare...I hate this.

We moved and have to find a new place for DD.  She really liked her old place.  I hate looking for daycare.  I got some recommendations from new coworkers, but one had really bad reviews, and another is an in-home, which we don't want for her age, and it won't work for her speech services (the school district provides transportation but only from home or a licensed center.

DH and I do it as a team.  I ask the questions (class size, etc.) and he looks for smiles, from teachers and kids.  We toured one this afternoon that is pretty good, no red flags, but we didn't get THAT feeling, if you know what I mean.  Ugh.  We have another tour tomorrow.  I hope we can find a place that will make her happy.    Also, I hate that daycare cost is the #1 thing stopping us from having our second kid.

That's all.  Just whining.

  • I am sorry :( We do an in home for Reese, for the opposite reason. We want her to be around kids, but per the doctors request---it can't be large groups of kids.

But it took a few tries for us to find and settle on a DCP who we absolutely LOVE.

I know what you mean about "the feeling"---we FINALLY have that with ours.

  • Good luck to those that are also shopping.  I had a recommendation for an in-home, but again, can't go there and have transportation to speech.   Some of the schools are so...sterile, or clinical...like a little military school I guess.  I get it--you have a strong focus on academics.  TBH, my top two priorities are that she is safe and happy.  She will learn what she learns, but if she isn't happy, that's a deal breaker.
