Suggestions Please

I have just moved dd to ds's Marathon and got him a new seat. When she falls asleep her head goes all over the place. She will wake up fussing because of her neck hurting. It is reclined all the way back. The front of the seat is so much higher than the back. So it makes her come forward too much. What could I do to help her head from looking all newborn when she sleeps?image

Re: Suggestions Please

  • What about shoulder pads or a neck roll? Something else, is it reclined to the right position? You said that the front of the seat is really high, so that might make the recline wrong. You can take like a pool noodle and cut a chunk to wedge under the back of the seat to fix the recline if need be. My fire department does this for some seat inspections. I had to with dd1's Graco seat in my Escape.

This is how my son's head looked when we switched his car seat.  Come to find out, the recline was wrong.  Just check the little ball bead dial on the side and make sure it really is in correctly.

  • Okay the level doesn't look right. The seat is reclined on the most reclined setting. I am thinking I might have to do the noodle thing. Is that car seat recommended safe?

My fire department does seat inspections and they do this. It's really important to make sure the noodle goes beyond the edge of the frame (I have it like an inch on either side), and then make sure your seat is tight. All it does is raise the incline, but the seat is still anchored. I have always assumed that since the FD is state inspection certified car seat inspectors, it should be fine. But you could definitely call who ever is a certified inspector in your area! Try the hospital if you don't know off hand. If they don't staff someone, they will at least know someone.
