Ultrasound Tonight

Tonight is my first ultrasound. I'm from Canada, and in my province you don't get an ultrasound until after 20 weeks or so. I'm nervous as can be, but also very excited!

However....the hospital where I'm getting it done does NOT tell you the gender, and the tech's also don't tell you anything during the process. So, I won't technically know anything until my next OB appointment on July 3rd.

I have been nervous all morning. It's honestly hard not to wonder about the worst case scenario, and I honestly don't even know what the worst case would be. I do know I hope baby is healthy and moving around, and maybe I'll be lucky enough to see a penis, or lack of penis. But, either way, they won't tell us the gender, so we'll probably pay to go somewhere private and find out.

I guess I just needed to get that off my chest! Everyone around me is telling me to stay calm and everything is fine...but it's hard not to worry!!!

 It's a BOY! Est. Due Date - October 17th

    Getting to see your LO for the first time is SO exciting! But even though I was really excited about mine I was a nervous wreck on the way there. I can't imagine how I would have been if I had to wait for results afterwards, but most of that fear is irrational. Hopefully seeing your baby moving around will be exciting enough to get you through till your OB appointment!

    As for gender, ours was a little inconclusive at the a/s so I got an elective to confirm and that ultrasound appointment was nice and stress free. So if you have to find out that way it should be a wonderful experience :)

    Thanks ladies!

    I am quite excited, I'm also just someone who worries needlessly about most doctor related occasions, so I'm not surprised with my nerves either.

    It's just SUCH a big deal, and the first time I get to see the baby...it's so much to take in! And my appointment isn't until 6pm tonight and I find it very mean that they're making anyone wait through a day before an apointment, haha.

    Enjoy your u/s tonight & seeing your LO for the first time is so amazing! Try to relax & take it all in!

    Good luck! Seeing the baby for the first time is like nothing else. I think that's the moment that we were like, whoa, there's a baby in there. Then everything you were stressing out about melts away. I also stress out about every appointment so I know how you feel. It's hard to shut your brain off sometimes.

    Wow, I can't imagine how hard it has been to wait this long.  Seeing the baby is so exciting!  It is something I could personally watch all day. 

    FX that the appointment goes well and that it was worth the wait!!

    Yup....I don't know if it's just my province, or across Canada, but MAN is it hard to wait patiently to get in to be seen. And then, once I'm in, they won't tell me anything and I don't get to find out the gender.

    I just hope baby is moving around so I can maybe see the legs and spine and estimate that it looks good. I have NO clue
