If you have a potty-trained girl, answer this for me...

How do you keep her hands out of her underwear?  I thought boys were bad about playing with their privates, but my DD1 is way worse.  I think it's because she's typically in little skirts and so all of a sudden not having a diaper there means she is constantly playing with her undies and sticking her hands Heaven knows where.  Since we're battling this HFMD and I'm extra paranoid about washing hands and staying clean, the idea that her hands are all over her bottom and then possibly in her mouth is grossing me out.

How did you address this with your little girl?  Should I just keep her in pants for a while?

    Could it be the Hfm making her itchy? Maybe that's part of it?

    Dd1 didn't really do that unless she had Itchems or sand (she liked to roll in sand and make head to toe sand angels. What about something like those little bike/legging shorts under her dresses? She's three, right? Is she able to understand "appropriate" touches? Maybe she's emulating her brothers a bit and adjusting herself?

    I didn't have this issue with DD. I have friends who've had this issue though - I think that some kids just do it (not just a girl vs. boy thing).

    Also, not sure where your daughter is in the potty training stage, but if she wipes herself, I would just make sure that she's doing a good job. That could be contributing too.

    Like others, I would just switch to shorts/pants/leggings for a little while...especially while HFM is going around your house.

    My DD did that, but she's a bit older.  I just explained to her that it wasn't clean to be touching that area all the time.  She sort of listened but...
