Are you and your SO planning to take a babymoon this pregnancy? Have you already taken one? Or, are you skipping the babymoon?

Re: CPW: Babymoon

  • @Qfrump - that's a bummer he got food poisoning the first night you were in New Orleans :(!!  Bad gumbo?  I'm glad the family stuff was fun and baby Q was dishing out kicks to share.  We are thinking of taking one but sticking close to the WA/OR coast rather than fly somewhere.  That way our furbabes can come with us.

We went on a vacation when I was about 8 weeks along that was for H's birthday, but will probably end up being our babymoon unless we can get to the beach for a weekend in Aug/Sept.  We went to Puerto Rico.

  • We went to Cabo when I was 9 weeks along. It was perfect weather and relaxing, but it was a bit of a bummer because I got hit with traveler's digestion issues. :-P

We took a four-day weekend away, in-state, two weekends ago and that was great. Hiking, hot springs (well, warm springs in short bursts for me, ~ 90-degree pools) and a music festival. Just what we needed at this stage in the pregnancy.

  • This hardly counts as a babymoon but it's all we got. When I was 8 weeks my DH and I spent nearly a week in Door County, which is a relaxing, yet touristy, getaway destination up in Wisconsin's Green Bay peninsula. I so wish we wouldn't have done it now! Basically I wasted a week's worth of vacation days to sit around with crazy PGAL brain (8 weeks was my loss milestone time) and not have much fun at all. Also, my employer doesn't offer maternity leave, so I have to take short-term disability which pays me at 50% of my pay rate...AFTER 15 days. So I really wish I had those vaca days to use now for that 15 day non-paid period. Ugh. -_-
  • SS.  we're not planning a babymoon per se, but a good friend of ours is getting married in august at a location 3-4 hours from here.  DS's grandmother will be looking after him, so we're making a long weekend of it.

I don't think I get one for a 3rd kid. LOL. I would settle for going to the bathroom without an audience.

  • We are planning a trip to Miami to visit my brother and his family so that will be our babymoon. I'll be 27 weeks then
  • I had the thought of taking a babymoon, and then I remembered we are still going through the foster to adopt process (I know, how do you forget that), and that we will likely have a little one in our house within the month.  So scratch, the babymoon.

My husband also reminded me that my suggestion of Ireland would be a lot less fun for me while prego since I could not enjoy the whiskey and beer.  Prego brain much?  I think so!

  • My DH has a gazillion airline miles because of his work travel and we considered using them to go someplace great for a babymoon - I want to tour Italy so, so bad.  Like @lorifromwi  mentioned, my DH said, "do you really want to miss all of Italy's wine?"  Um no, I didn't even think about that - I'm not skipping out on wine, I'll wait.  So we are planning on going to Italy after the baby is born; when she's old enough to travel, but not yet mobile on her own, maybe 6 months?  I'm a FTM so taking a baby to Italy may be crazy talk, we'll see how we feel about it once she gets here.  In the meantime we plan on taking just a small weekend somewhere together to enjoy just the two of us.
