Make baby products with the right sounds?  I have countless items with sounds that are supposed to soothe my child: the playpen, bassinet, sleep sheep, sound machine etc...   Aand they all have the same stupid sound options - rain, ocean, rainforest, heartbeat....  WTF?  These don't work!  Please someone make me a new sound machine with options like hood fan, hairdryer and vacuum - now THAT would change my life.

Sorry - had to get that out.  For someone who never gets a free hand to cook a meal anymore I am spending way too much time in front of the stove.....

    Vacuum would be awesome! Lol. My biggest qualm with the sleep sheep is that it doesn't get loud enough. My child needs something so loud he can't hear his thoughts.

    The Sound Sleeper app is amazing! Aside from a whole host of features (if your baby makes a peep & you're not in the room, the app will turn on for you), it has awesome sounds: hair dryer, vacuum cleaner, fan, car ride, etc. We love it!

    Just want to add ITA with you ladies. Our swing definitely needs some loud static sound, not stupid birds chirping or soft water running. I end up putting my Kindle next to it with the white noise app going full blast.

    I guess we should all invent one and get rich? :)

    Rain on full blast is what all of my kids sleep with. It's the white noisest choice on our sound machine.

    My DS is terrified of the sound of the vacuum but he falls asleep right away to the ocean waves. I think having a fan noise option would be awesome. Derek would stare at the fan all day if I would let him!

    Order a Baby Shusher. I put it in the swing, car seat, PNP with LO whenever I need it and it totally calms her down.

    Love the free Sleepy Sounds app on my iPhone. Lullabies, nature sounds, vacuum/dryer/other annoying sounds all in one!

    My DS falls asleep to the sounds "screaming toddler" or "barking dog". Fortunately (unfortunately? ) I don't need a sound machine to replicate it..

    Happiest Baby on the Block has a CD of various white noise sounds. You can buy the actual CD or download it. We played it off our iPod for DD. It does have hair dryer and vacuum (not range hood fan though ;).
